[IMG] Okay, I've got a simple question about the difference between Aasimar and Half-Celestials. (Or tiefling and half-fiends)

Aasimar carry the blood of the celestials ('touched by the holy'), have minor physical traits and get +2 to wisdom and charisma, some resistances.

Half-Celestials seem to be a lot tougher: +4 to Strenght, Constitution, Wisdom and Charisma, +2 to Dexterity and Intelligence, several immunities, etc, etc...

Some quotes that got me thinking:
This makes me think that an Aasimar is a Half-Celestial.
This makes me think an Aasimar is half a deity and half mortal. Should be a lot tougher then a Half-Celestial.
    Now he seems merely blessed.

The MM is quite clear on Half-Celestials at page 213.

My question: What is the difference between an Aasimar's herritage and that of a Half-Celestial?
Is an Aasimar a Half-Celestial, half God, 'blessed' or is there something else?

    Someone enlighten me, please.

'Stupid questions are the ones left unasked'
So I dared to ask this.

It is very simple in my opinion. A half-celestial has a parent who is a celestial (or maybe the half-celestial status was given as a gift by a god).

An Aasimar has a distant ancestor who was a celestial or even a god. As time goes by, the descendents of the higher creature gain less and less of its powers.

The gods of Mulhorand probably had offspring many generations ago, which led to the Aasimars there.

The same story applies to tieflings and half-fiends.

Personally, I think blessing might be a valid option. Not like they giving you celestial template for good holy job, but rather before your birth or in early youth.

I also fancy the thought about individuals like Aragorn. No celestials on the family tree, but they have some mighty mystical ancestors from so long ago that they're only really remembered in legends.
