[IMG] After killing dopplegangers in the ducal palace,
you can go to the basement. When you enter, a
movie is played and it shows you a chest.
Well, a have never been able to open it.
A have tried it with high level rogues, but
they can't open it. And fighters with high
    strengh couldn't force it.
I used a lot of potions but it didn't work.
Is there anyway to open it?
What is it inside the chest?

You know you just asked about the only BG1 gameplay question I didn't write down somewhere!

    From Memory:

I was able to open it. Imoen had like 120 (+20% from the potion) open locks. I had to use improved invisiblity to avoid battles (I was a Paladin and had 20 Rep and didn't want to lose it). If I recall correctly there was a ton of gold (10,000-20,000 more???) and many high level gems. No great weapons or Armor.

Now I may not be recalling this correctly mind you. Being a Paladin I couldn't spend much time looting the Palace! :p

I'll make better notes of this area in my next game. It was Chapter 7 right? I was in a hurry to finish...

Oh, that's too hard. Hey, dude, just charm the one or two guards and cast knock on the chests. Wham-bam, you're done.

Easy for you to say.

I had only Dynaheir as a mage.
She could learn no charm or summon spells.

As I said in another post around here; Invoker is the worst Mage class.
    :nolike:

Although knock is always a great idea. I just never used it much. I gave Inoem's thief skill points to the find trap and open locks skills. Just a little to pickpocket and none to stealth (hide in shadows). I just didn't use the backstab skill much and when I did an invisible potion was more handy. Could almost never "hide" in combat...

    Knock did not help. :(
