Has anyone found that Adalon in the Underdark is real easy to kill? My level 17 Cavalier killed her by himself without breaking a sweat. So did anyone else find her easy?

17th level. Pretty sweet. I assume you went back for Adalon after you had completed the Underdark or did you attack her when you first arrived?

It's pretty safe to say that most fighter type characters could take on anything 1 on 1 by that level. The saving throws alone are well below 0 or sitting close enough that most attacks requiring a saving throw would be made. If that particular character has that cloak from the Shaghuin City that reflects all magic back to the caster, you'll be laughing your way through most magical battles.

Did you also take her blood back for the Human Skin armor or was this just a test to see how tough she'd be?

I didn't take the the blood because since my character is a Paladin after all and he would never travel with anyone who would wear such vile armor such as the human skin. I attacked her because I don't trust Dragon's after the ordeal with Firkraag, and I wanted test my abilities in battle agaist a mighty Silver Dragon.

[IMG] I´m surprised: Cavaliers usually are lawful good; non-chromatic dragons like Adalon are good too.
Is there a reason for a paladin to kill a good dragon except for sports?

However, I feel you play paladins the right way :D

I may know that Adalon is good but my Cavalier does not. Whenever he does not fully trust any creature that he encounters I make use of my detect evil spell. When Adalon's Magic Resistance stopped the spell naturaly I suspected that she was hiding something.
That plus the fact that a Cavelier is specialized in fighting Demons and Dragons so I would think he has a natural distrust for any Dragon.
Also by my Cavaliers standards Adalon is not all that good or rightous, She would let Irenicus and Bhodi lead a Drow attack Suldanessalar and then all of Amn to save her unborn Children. As a Paladin it would be my duty to sacrifice the few for the many and I would sacrifice myself and my entire party if it meant saving an entire land.

So by my views Adalon was a selfish and cowardly Dragon who was hiding in her lair using me for her own gain when she should have been trying to stop the Drow, and for that she deserved to die by my blade.

Good point, Elbereth. But a paladin can cast detect evil to find out ones alignent, hehe. And I can understand dragons to fear for their eggs for they get some only every 100 years...

However, I´m NOT criticizing you, for I usually play backstabbing melee-coward-like kensai-thiefs! I killed Adalon for I needed a fancy armor for Viconia, but sports is a reason just as good.
I was just asking for curiosity :D

Nice explanation of your role-playing justification. Way to go.

Only, what is the intelligence and or wisdom of your cavalier? Wouldn't he know Silver Dragons are inherently good?

j/k. Don't want to start this again.

Question: do you get anything from killing Adalon? I haven't heard anything about silver dragon scale armor, or any other loot from her. What did you get?

You get Silver Dragon's blood, which you take to Umar Hills to receive the Human Skin armor which is what the tanner from the Bridge District was trying to create.

And this armor is cool: gives you a good armor-class for leather and - the nice thing - adds some 20% magic resistance. Should work well with evil thiefs and that.
However, I never wore it myself but on Viconia - combined with that 5% magic resistance shield and the 10% magic resistance amulet she had 100% magic resistance :D

    Did you forget something?
    +4 to saving throws?

[IMG] Ahh, what was I thinking? Who knows. I forgot all about the dragon's blood and the Tanner's friend in Umar Hills. Silly me. And I hope everyone doesn't start leaving quotes at the end of their posts. No repetative quotes is something I like about these boards. Nothing personal Sorl.

[IMG] Yeah, but I reallly like this one. It saves me a handfull of flames and a dozen lines of explanations for each use.
But don't worry Crawl, I'll keep the use at a moderate level. I guess signatures weren't diabled here for no reason.
