Aid for Africa Lost?

    [​IMG] I was reminded by another topic in AoDA of news that the aid raised by Band Aid and the 'We are the World' artists of the 80s never reached their intended users. Some said that shipping costs were so expensive that the food just rotted at the ports or that local warlords took the aid and traded it for weapons.

    Was this true? Was this true for the aid sent by other groups and countries as well? Is it still happening now?

    Cant say how it is in any specific cases but what you describe happens often and in many places. Getting stuff is not that hard, the hard part is to distribute it.
