Alignment and rep

Say if your evil and have a really high, are their any consequences, and vice versa where you good but have a really bad rep, are there any consequences if this happens.

Also does alignments affect you anyway, even if you don't play according to it.

Just had to get that off my chest.

 

Im not exactly sure about the first part but alinement effects your company. if your evil good people arnt as happy in your company. and the opposite. Also to high a rep will stop your romance with Viconia.

 

Good npcs will leave your party if your rep gets too low. Evil npcs don't like high reps.
If you're a paladin or ranger and your rep goes too low, you'll lose all your abilities and become a normal fighter. Not really anything else, alignment is pretty unimportant.

 

Reputation is not quite unimportant.

Low reputation brings you wrath od Amn soldiers and Cowled wizards on your back.

Also note that Mazzy will leave party and attack you if your reputation is below 4. Keldorn attacks you if your reputation is below 9.

 

A reputation of around 13-16 usually is good all round. As for effects of low rep, yeah the paladin and the ranger become "fallen" and lose all their ablilites.

 

Alignment for BG games do not really matter. It's just personal preference. Of course you are urged to play as if you were good, neutral, chaotic, evil, or lawful, but it doesn't matter how you go with alignment. Sometimes I'm good and low rep sometimes evil and high rep. (More often with the latter).

 

Alignment doesn't mater at all, but reputation is another thing. A high rep is a good thing because the prices of items are reduced while bad rep does the oposite. I would recomend a rep of 17 if you like to keep evil NPC and if you don't then try to get the highest you can.
