Has anyone else tried to run an all female party (OK I kepy my main charcater as a male just in case I got too much into the role). After finishing the game once I'm looking to try unusual party combination. All female was the first and I'm thinking next time maybe all evil, or magic user's only or non-magic users only (that sounds like a challenge) or whatever.

Anyway, the all female is quite good especially early on with all three love interests bitching at each other. Viconia should also be interesting in the later stage of the game (I don't want to give any spoilers away). Mazzy also seems to have a positive influence on Aerie. The downsides seem to be:
    - Nalia is a pretty poor thief (assuming you don't get Imoen back early (is that actually possible?)) and she keeps winging about 'not helping the poor' etc.
    - You lack a decent Melee character until much later after Mazzy, Jaheira and Viconia toughen up and get some magical goodies (perhaps I should have played a fighter rather than a sorceror).
    - It's tricky keeping Viconia happy as your rep rises. (you can keep dumping her then bringing her back to loose 2 each time but that's sort of cheating).
    - Worst of all, no Minsce who's by far my favourite character for general entertainment.

Being serious for a bit, I suppose there is a bit of a lack of female characters in the game 6 (one of whom you loose for most of it) versus 9 men. There also seems to be a lack of evil aligned characters. Perhaps we should ask for these in the expansion pack?

I personally don't have a problem with men being in the majority. ;) But seriously, I think it is a reflection of real life in some ways. Generally more men play these games than women, I think. Also, hypothetically, I would assume that there would be more male than female adventurers in most societies.

I know it's not PC (politically correct) to say so, but I wouldn't really care if there were even fewer female NPCs. The sex of the character is a lot less important than class, skills, and profs. It's nice for party interaction, but I think asking for equal numbers of each sex and romance possibilities is a bit excessive, and simply kowtowing to political correctness.

(Although, the thought of my very own Drow male ranger on the end of a leash is rather appealing sometimes...) ;) :D

[IMG] hmmm being female and a long time D&D fan i must disagree!!

I think that a balanced mixture of females and males is needed...

And i also must disagree with the statement that more men play then females... i think you are very misinformed.

I wonder if the number of registered females vs. males on these boards would support my theory. I'd bet the women are outnumbered by at least 2 to 1.

:rolleyes:Can you just see my eyes rolling at Drow ranger statement  Just because you have a thing against Viconia... anyway, more men do play D&D than women. I find that statement hard to argue. And I'll bet women are outnumbered 5 to 1 on these boards. Anyway, that is a nice thought for a party. Hmmmm, me surrounded by hot women. Yeah, I like that a lot. Good idea :D

[IMG] Women on our message boards are outnumbered at least 100 to 1. And this is official data, mind.

[IMG] I think I know why there are just so few female adventurers around. Just have a look at all the custom portraits - most of the girls wear no armor, just some fashionable armor bras or fancy dresses.
This results in overproportional losses during adventures and seems to explain the low number of adventure-minded weman in CRPGs and on this board :D

Hey Slappy, if you'll try to use your other partycombinations, I think they won't work!
Evil aligned characters together could work, but all magicusers, nah, you'll need at least two tanks.
And all non-magic users? Not a chance!
Because there are a lot of monsters like liches and dragons, that can't be hit without lowering their protections... :(

I think all magicusers would work great. Of course it requires different tactics. I'm doing a solo sorcerer and it's rather easy so far. All non-magicuser is probably harder and you may have to avoid some fights, but a decent thief might turn the tide for that.

Has anyone tried an all druid/ranger party? I thought of it for BG1 but never got around to trying it

[IMG] Ragusa's comment about the women adventurers all wearing fashionable armoured underwear and little else might explain a problem I'm having (see my post about the save game bug). Basically my games take ages to save and load between auto saves. Perhaps this is because my all females party members need extra time to adjust their make-up and make all those last minute costune adjustments that women seem so obsessed with when you're in a hurry to go out........

Regarding my all 'magic users and all non-magic user party' ideas. I think the all magic users would be OK, as someone mentioned earlier, you'd need different tactic - more scouting and area affect spells for one. You'd also have to use some of the mages with stoneskin to soak-up some of the punishment. I also seem to remember somone on this board talking about the Kensai-mage and what a great class it was. Perhaps it would help here.

As to the all non-magic users, yeah I reckon that could be rather tricky, but hey by then it'll be my fourth time through so I'll need a challenge. I agree that there will be a problem getting through some of the mages/liches protection but remember there are some magical weapons that displel magic. More importantly, there are only a few spells that protect against magical weapons and they tend to be high level and only last for a few rounds. Perhaps if my character was a wizard slayer....

Anyway I'll put some more thought into this one. Has anyone else tried anything similar?

[IMG] Slappy, to your load problems: maybe its also the hordes of male NPCs that are tailing your party, that take so long to load.

Good point Silroth. The problem did seem to get worse after I turned down Aerie and Viconia in preference to Jaheira. Maybe now the other girls are young and fancy free again everyone else thinks they are in with a shout. All the women have stopped complaining now as well - that probably makes them more attractive. I've also recently recovered Imoen and replaced Nalia. Yes it all seems to be making sense. Oh well back to the Copper Corenet to find Edwin and Korgan that should discourage all the suitors. Or perhaps I should get my character to wear that girdle of reversed masculinity (the one that changes your sex). My character is ugly enough to scare of anyone.

I think its kinda funny with that new romance patch you can download from this site. using that you can have girl-on-girl romances so you dont have to put up with Anomens blabbering. BTW i almost always use a female party except for maybe just on male tank (cause the best tanks are male, at least in this game). Just my opinion .
