Annoying bug in the "Jan returns home.."-quest

    Hi all,

    Been playing Bg2 vanilla now for some time.

    Im on the "Jan returns home for his former love"-quest, the one when to retrieve a potion for that dying kid.

    Anyway, I've meet up with the Hidden, killed the githyanki's and Im off to meet Hidden again. Unfortunatley when Im going to meet him he is red for me and start blasting my arse off with mind flayer spells. What the hell is happening ? Ive tried to reload numerous times and tried to sleep. Won't work though, he always attacks me. Even patching to the latest version didn't work.

    I really need some help here.

    Is there anyway to change in some .ini files or something?

    I don't know much about coding and such, and it's been a really long time since I played with Jan. However, if he's supposed to give you a.. "material" potion, something you have in your inventory, you should be able to give it to yourself using Shadow Keeper.

    If you don't know what that is, it's a program used to modify BG2 saves. For example, you can change class, appearance, THAC0, spells etc. as well as adding things to your inventory.

    Try downloading Shadow Keeper, load up your save and add the potion. Save twice in beforehand though since I'm now sure if it bugs the quest even further.

    IIRC, it's not a real potion, so SK won't do you good.

    You can try using the CLUA Console to summon up another Hidden creature and talk to that. Just enable cheats (forgot how exactly, but...) and type CLUAConsole:CreateCreature("Hidden"). Should work.
