Another Jaheira Romance Question

    [​IMG] I apologise for asking a question that’s probably been asked before, but a search hasn’t helped me. I know that there are several bugs associated with Jaheira’s romance. I don’t have the romance patch installed. I’m just wondering if I’m screwed here.

    I’ve read Extremist’s guide. I’ve killed Dermin. I recall getting Love Talk 51, but I don’t recall how I answered it (one of the answers can kill the romance). That was way back in Chapter 2. I don’t recall any subsequent Love Talks, and I’m now in Chapter 6. When Phaere tried to get me to sleep with her, I successfully pretended to be impotent, and Jaheira said something about being glad Phaere didn’t get her claws into me. (I also tested it by sleeping with Phaere, and Jaheira said I had other options, but she trusted my judgement.)

    So, is the romance still on? Is there any way I can check to see if it’s active? Why is it taking so long to progress? I know that some things are affected by real time, but this seems a bit excessive; can I speed it up? If I messed up, is there any way to reactivate it?

    Thanks for any help you can give me.

    Well, nothing in the romance (as far as encounters go) can really happen. I don't know whether she talks to you in the Underdark or not because there's an encounter that needs to be met. When I'm romancing her I usually wait until the very end - just before Elminster (the 2nd time) - so that when I come out of the Underdark Elminster shows up and gives me the Harper's Pin (plus 100,000XP just for the PC for romancing her).

    If you type ...

    CLUAConsole:GetGlobal("JahieraRomanceActive","GLOBAL")

    ... Into the console, it will give you a value, if this value is 3 then the romance is dead. If its 1 then its still progressing normally.

    you are right on that Morsmorde but you can also type:
    CLUAConsole:SetGlobal"JaheiraRomanceActive","GLOBALS",2)
    or
    CLUAConsole(SetGlobal"JaheiraRomanceActive","GLOBALS",1)

    That will reactivate it if it is dead. He didn't sound like he wanted a cheat.

    BTW, the mouse pointer has to be over Jaheira whenever you do either of those.

    The mouse pointer doesn't need to be over a character to adjust global variables. ;)

    The good news -
    It appears the romance is still active. I tried Morsmordre's suggestion and got a "1". Also, I was able to buy the trinket from the vendor Jahaboam in the Docks.

    The bad (?) news - nothing appears to be progressing. I tried AdvanceRealTime("50000") several times. I tried resting several times. Nothing. As I said previously, I don't think anything has happened since Ch 2, and I'm now in Ch 6.

    Any more suggestions?

    [​IMG] The romance will not continue if:
    * You are in chapters 4, 5 or 7.
    * You are in a dungeon
    * An interaction with an NPC is disrupted
    * You are too near another 'blue' NPC

    You seem to be in chapter six, okay, the romance should continue, you might be resting in a dungeon or something, waiting for dialogues, I don't know. Check after LT 51, see what other NPCs appear, like Dermin did, se how many of those happen and if any should be happening. Try resting in Umar hills, in the wooded area.

    Remember romances run on REAL time not GAME time.

    The AdvanceRealTime command does just that--it convinces BG2 that you have been sitting at the computer, so it's an effective way to trigger the next LT. It doesn't advance time in the game.

    Has Jaheira run off for the Harper hold the second time? Try resting outdoors somewhere (not the Underdark exit) and see if she disappears.

    [​IMG] Well, I think it's buggered. Global still says 1, but I tried everything 8people suggested, to no avail. And when I went to the graveyard (Ch 6), wasn't Jaheira supposed to be taken away? Well, she wasn't. So something's messed up. 8people, when you say "an interaction with an NPC is disrupted", what does that mean exactly? Is it possible an interaction was interrupted a long time ago and never completed, so the romance is on hold?

    Anyway, I was hoping to get through this romance for once, but it doesn't look like it's going to happen. :nolike:

    Jaheira will not be kidnapped by Bohdi unless you're far enough along in the romance, even if it's still active. Have you rescued Jaheira from the Harper Hold? If not then you still need to rest outdoors.

    You could cheat a little.

    CLUAConsole:SetGlobal("JaheiraRomanceActive","GLOBAL",2)

    Use this command, not the one Ivellios posted. If GLOBAL is plural, it won't work.

    That'll make Bodhi take her away and should readvance the romance.

    Put your pointer over Jaheira, and do a GetGlobal("LoveTalk","LOCALS") and post what the result is.

    @ CamDawg - yes, I rescued her way back in Ch 2. And shortly after, I had the final encounter with Dermin (and killed him). I'm pretty sure the last LoveTalk I got was 51.

    @ Rastor - I may be out of luck there. I'm not sure if I have a save game going back to prior to when I entered the graveyard and was confronted by Bodhi. I'll have to check tonight when I get home (if I have a chance). Most recently, I have just killed Bohdi, and have her heart, but I haven't started Ch 7. Would the Global 2 thing still help?

    It should, but you'll have to modify the RealTime variables and LoveTalks before getting any further dialogue.

    I'm not 100% sure whether Bodhi has to abduct your romance partner for things to work. I don't think so, but I'll have to take a look at the scripts.

    My last archive was just before I confronted Bodhi! Whew!!

    GetGlobal("LoveTalk","LOCALS") returned "set to 53" (which I assume means my last LT was 51 or 53, so my memory is apparently not totally failing me).

    More importantly (I think), with CLUAConsole:SetGlobal("JaheiraRomanceActive","GLOBAL",2), she disappeared when I met Bodhi. (That's supposed to be good, right? :xx: )

    So, I think I'm back in the nookie game! :cool: Hopefully there's nothing else I need to do to get this to work; enough is enough already! :almostmad:
