Another UN scandal?

    Way for the UN to follow up the oil for food abuses.

    Even American corporations have to disclose audit findings, I think it is reasonable to ask for the same level of transparency from the UN.

    Wow, makes WorldCom and Enron look like amateurs.

    It appears that the visible leadership at the UN isn't really doing much of the real management work, but letting the gargoyle pick UN staff goes a little beyond negligent.

    Why am I not surprised.

    Nice...right now Halliburton is turning green with envy, and their cheeks are a little pink from embarrassment at being shown up by a two bit dictator in a 3rd world nation. :rolleyes:

    Hmmm. Well, Fox has sometimes given their stories an extra twist (and given the language here I'd argue this is no exception), but I would agree the new UN secretary has a lot of work to do in the near future. In 2005, there was another issue about the same program: apparently a relative of one of the Korea section leaders was working for the program.

    Mind you, that "U.S. State Department Reveals'..." has me a bit unnerved. It sounds a lot like a smokescreen, I guess. I personally love how after the bombastic "$4 billion" it turns out the two-year North Korea budget is $18 million. By the way, it's interesting how the program supervisor, Mark Brown, was portrayed in a Yale U article that named him as an "entrepreneur":
    He said Malloch Brown’s book will likely draw on the entrepreneurial strategy of management that he brought to the program in the mid-1990s.

    Entrepreneural spirit, indeed. I don't think it even came close to Enron proportions, but he might have been trying very hard. We will see how this turns out.
