I see Dragonlance and Forgotten Realms books everywhere, but what about Planescape? I'm just curious if theres any good ones based in the Planescape setting. (Besides the book based on the game, which in that case I would just rather play the game) I'm aware of the setting getting shafted, but there must have been some released during its prime. (I hope)

[IMG] They're all out of print, apart from Torment, based on the game (listed on SP in the FR books subsection, first page top).

The only other notable books were the Blood War Trilogy and Pages of Pain. And that's more or less it. After these books the setting and its novels were dumped altogether and never reprinted. (Which prompted the removal of the Planescape books subsection from SP as well.)

What I find even more tragic is how poorly done the torment book was. I mean you have a great foundation for a whole score of novels but the author just failed somehow. They should get a better writer on it. I dunno maybe we can mass mail Pratchett or Salvatore to make a tribute to it :p

Instead of requesting an established author to step out of his own milieu to take on Planescape, aren't there enough aspiring writers here on SP to take on this task? ;)

The Blood Wars Trilogy, while exploring some interesting and fresh concepts, were written by an extremely arrogant author, who's head was so far stuck up his own ass he couldn't see the pages he was penning.

I heard Pages of Pain didn't really capture the Atmosphere of Planescape aswell. Damnit! There are no "great" Planescape books. That sucks start a leaf blower.

It's also ironic that the game has better dialogue/story than any of the books.

I read Pages of Pain, and it's a good Planescape novel, in my opinion. It certainly did capture the spirit of Planescape, and I enjoyed reading it. So if you can still find it somewhere, pick it up.
