Any reason not to go evil?

I'm going to use Abdel, one of the PCs they give to start if you want. I would like to jack his str and con up, even though they are already very good, and I would obviously turn evil. Is there any way to turn back to good or even neutral? Is there anything that will matter if I'm evil?
I think I've asked something similar before didn't I?
He has full spec (5 stars) in Long Sword so I'll probably get Blackrazor as well. The Blackrazor is the main reason I'll be changed to evil. The stat bumps are there because I'll already be evil so why not. :p

    Any thoughts? Advise? Suggestions?

Sorry I forgot to mention that this will be in Hell once the long trek there is over :borg:

Being evil in BG2 means being selfish, rude, and obnoxious (or downright psychopathic). It's really a stupid programming restriction and causes a ton of experience points as you offend various npcs who would normally give you quests. Being evil also raises costs in stores (but then with a good thief it won't matter).

The alternative is to just be selfish often enough to keep the evil guys from leaving.

You can get the Blackrazor without turning evil, but if you also want the CON and STR bonuses I suppose you'll turn evil anyway.

Aside from your alignment changing, there is no impact in the game. You can still play as someone neutral good even if your alignment is chaotic evil. There can be some limitations if your class has a alignment restriction. I had a monk that turned neutral evil and as a consequence couldn't use some monk specific weapons anymore (because monks have to be lawful of alignment).

Technically a ranger or palladin would become fallen if they become evil in the hell tests, though I've never really noticed any impact from this.

Or: keep one of the mind control circlets from the underdark mind flayer layers, then use it on the genie just after giving the sword to the genie so you get the good tear and then pickpocket the sword back.

I don't know if they patched this in the EE version, but in the original you could cast Spell Immunity: Abjuration or Conjuration (not sure which, anymore) in the selfish trial (sacrifice some hp, xp and one point of DEX or have one of your party members killed), you would be immune to the hp, xp and DEX drain.

Unfortunately, they patched this in the later BG2fixpacks.

If it's fixed in the fixpacks, then it's almost certainly fixed in EE.
