[IMG] Has anybody tried the BG1Tutu mod (you know, the one which allows you to play BG1 with the BG2 engine)? I'm thinking of giving it a go. Are there any showstopper bugs? How is game balance affected? For example, I can imagine that a Shapeshifter druid in werewolf form is nigh on unstoppable in the game, while almost nothing could touch the Totemic Druid's spirit animals.

I had the idea of installing this mod and playing through BG1, but couldn't get it installed - the installation cut out about half-way through every time I tried to install it.

I re-installed my game and re-downloaded the mod, but still had the same problem. Also, the guys at BGTuTu site were about as good as a hairy back in a swimming pool.

Go ahead and try it though, you might have better luck than me ;)

Hmm, installation bugs definitely fit my idea of "showstopper". I'll report back with any tales of success / woe.

I am playing this mod right now, and I have had no problems at all! (I have already made it to Baldur's Gate, and am now crawling my way through dungeons at Durlag's)

Why has this thread been moved to the ToB forum?... Out of curiosity.

I am playing right now and have done every region upside down uptill baldur's Gate no problems right now and I am so enjoying seeing imoen wielding two long swords and kicking some major butts.

Haven't gone through durlags tower though except the upper part (needed a good scimitar for my double scimitar wielding fighter/druid) who has insect plague by the way :)

If you mean it reports that the installation was 52% done, then it was successful.

If you get a "rndequip.2da missing" error, it's because you don't have TotSC, and can download that file as indicated in the forum.

    Yes, you're welcome.

I started following the BG1tutu boards about a couple of months ago, about a week or two after I discovered BGT. BGT is stalled in version 4, with the creator admitting he probably won't ever get to work on it again, and numerous annoying bugs still left to work out -- nevertheless, if it can be made more stable, it holds a lot of promise! BG1tutu works pretty well, currently awaiting version 5. There were even more initial bugs than BGT, but they also got fixed faster. Plus the people on the boards are rather hlpful, if you're willing to take the time to search for answers before posting a new thread.

You have to pay particular attention to the install readme, even moreso than with most mods, but what else do you expect when you're going this far with a mod?! ;)

[IMG] When you have a mod which encompasses two games, it's rather common sense to post about it in the forum of the latest game, where discussing anything about it won't be a spoiler to anyone. Unlike discussing the BG2 kits in the BG1 forum...

[IMG] Hmmmm, well BG1TuTu installed fine for me. Ghreyfain, you must admit, a pirate such as yourself must have an awfully hairy back :p

I'm currently going through with a F/M/T and it works fine for me. No bugs yet.

Not posting doesn't mean not reading ;)

BTW tutu's ability to use kits are just plain great, top notch (sp?)to the makers.

I have enjoyed this mod immensely since it makes BG1 flow into BG2 more realistically and easily. The only thing I found as a downer was that Shar Teel's script seems broken and she would not join me. Anyway I'll download the latest version and re-install, and besides I can always live without her...
