Can an archer gain grand mastery in slings? I know it's a strange question, but I've been thinking that sling may be the way to go here. If you get an archer with a high strength and using the sling of seeking, you may have the most damaging missile weapon in the game. Espeically once you hit ToB, and +4 bullets become available. You can easily have a damage adjustment in double digits.

Hmmm... What about attacks though? I believe a regular archer gets 9/2 attacks with a bow. How many attacks do you lose with a sling? I honestly don't know because usually when I use a sling it's with a mage or cleric, and they only get one attack per round. With grand mastery, I'm assuming I'd be looking at either 7/2 or 5/2. Anyone know which one?

Archers are EDIT: NOT - repeat - NOT allowed to gain proficiencies with all ranged weapons. In any case, archers are IMO the only effective ranged-combatants in ToB, so it's pretty irrelevant what weapon they actually use.

I once made a halfling slinger, quite an effective char. However, I feel that archers still are best when using a bow, making optimum use of their class abilities due to their higher number of attacks.

Actually, I don't think you can get grand mastery. I recalled this thread from a previous search. I think max attacks is 5/2.
