In the guide, it says that you can have druid/mage, a or fighter/druid/thief combos...is this true or another one of many mistakes?

This is not possible unless you have a tweak of some sort. The only druid combination is the fighter/druid.
    btw, what guide?

The instruction manual, in the multiclass chart for half-elves somewhere near the back of the book

My SoA manual lists these as possible multi-classes:

    Fighter/Cleric
    Fighter/Druid
    Fighter/Mage
    Fighter/Mage/Cleric
    Fighter/Mage/Thief
    Mage/Cleric
    Mage/Thief
    Cleric/Ranger
    Thief/Cleric

Mine only goes up to page 192!

I got a newer (US) version of the game in one of those small boxes, so I got a small manual.

    4.5 x 6.5 inches. 192 pages. Small print... :(

I haven't opened my own manual IIRC, but my friend's one also has the druid option listed. In d&d it's possible, but not in crpg d&d games so far. However, I have no information on dual-classing possibilities for druids as compared to clerics.

It is not possible, so forget what the manual says.

As for crpgs, you may make such classes in PoR:RoMD and IWD2. I don't know if it's possible in NWN.
