[IMG] Im trying to make a ranger meatgrinder using two weapons, but i also want the highest dexterity possible (20 - Dark elf). Are there any keen weapons (or stuff that has the same result?) early on in IWDII? I heard that daggers rely on Dex as opposed to Str but im not sure. Any ideas?

    1) Without giving away too many spoilers, there are a few "keen" weapons but I think that just means that they are treated as +5 for the purposes of enemies that have invulnerabilities to less than +5 weapons.

    2) But you can get the feat Weapon Finesse. This allows you to use Dexterity as your hit roll modifier rather than Strength.

Keen has nothing to do with Dexterity. A keen weapon has a bigger critical threat range, making it more likely to get critical hits than a normal weapon.

@Harbourboy: You'nking of 'Sure Striking' weapons. They are treated as having a +5 enchantment for the purposes of what enemies they can hit, but usually don't actually offer the +5 yo hit or damage. In fact, they usually don't offer anything.

@Eltharodo: Harbourboy is right about the weapon finesse comment though. Only ranged weeapons use a high DEX on their to hit rolls, unless you get the Weapon Finesse feat. If you get that feat, then your daggers and short swords use DEX in their to hit roll, instead of STR. STR is still what affects their damage roll tho.

Yes, there are keen weapons in this game, but there are only around 1-2 diffrent keen weapons for each kind of weapon. None of them come early on; most of the time a better weapon is avalible.

IMHO: Keen weapons suck in this game because they do not stack properly. Sean K. Reynolds makes a good point with his rant .

@Velve Zauviir: Your right, but in IwdII it doesn't stack Properly

    For Example:
In IwdII: A keen scimitar with Improved Critical = 16-20 critical threat range
In Nwn: A keen scimitar with Improved Critical = 12-20 critical threat range

Actually in IWDII the range for a keen scimitar with improved critical is 15-20 (FYI ;) ) But yes it does miss out on a nice 3 extra to the range.
