Are unusual/different skills/setup themes better?

    Hello,

I've just finished with the K. Wilds in a play through. Now that I'll be having Alistair around but its early in the game a thought crossed my mind.

Should I keep him on his sword (sooner or later waraxe/axe due to my preference) & shield or move him into some other fighting theme when I level him.... say into 2-handed weapons?

Should I do that with him or no? (think its worth it?)

If I'm going to do him different the track he starts out on then what about the other character?

Sword & Shield Zev? Dual Welding Sten? 2 Handed Leliana? (ok that is a bit far fetched but there is a battle axe in the game with a + to backstabs....)

Depends. A warrior using staves is simply ridiculous, for example.

You can spec Alistair so he uses two weapons/two-handed weapons, but you'll lose a tanker. Doesn't matter if you don't need one though. Sword and shield Zev can be a problem, Zev starts out dex-based while a sword and shield user (rogue or otherwise) needs high strength. Lethality won't help with gear requirements. Dagger + shield is viable, but not if you get Zev late since he'll have most of his points in dual-wielding. Dual-wielding Sten can be decent, if you survive through the leveling phase since he'll be dead weight until you get decent talents like Momentum. Two-handed rogues is a bad idea, rogues have nothing to improve their two-handed weapon attack speed and can't skill spam to circumvent this, as warriors can.
