    IIRC the red dragon scale is the best armour with the fancy field plate armour you find in the Kua-Toa-area (a +3 ?!).
    The first one has the advantage that it can be combined with the +1/+2 rings/ cloaks of protection so it excells at sheer AC.

    but then again anyone who goes into battle without any armor must be either a mage or not very intelligent (no offence)

    I was under the impression that powergaming and powerposting go hand in hand in your opinion. (Where else would you get the "power" word from if not from powergaming). It's not like powerposting is a word used on a daily basis.
