After getting really frustrated at the cowardly way I handled that moody shade lich (i just had my main character walk around until all his defences had worn off)

I moved on down the stars to retreive the rod piece. After getting accross the bridge I get aBSOLUTLY sLAUGHTERED bY 3 fLOATING hEADS wITH eYES. the moment they see me they throw 'cause serious wounds', Lightening spells, and Hold spells at around 4 times a second.

How the hell do you get passed these @#'%$£

Beholders. Gotta love 'em!

I have a weapon that gives "Free movement" to anyone who uses it. This is a great thing to hold in an off hand for a fighter to keep away from Hold Person, Entangle, Web or any other spell that can slow you down.

Have your casters throw Magic Resistance onto your head fighter as well and protection from lightning, protection from fire, chaotic commands and spell immunity for your casters (Necromantic) as the Beholders use Death Magic for their Slay Living eye stalk.

Beef up this main character with everything you got. Protection from Evil, Bless, Chant, Defensive Harmony, Oil of Speed, Potion of Fire Giant Strength and Potions of Extra Healing, along with those mentioned above.

Keep pause ready and let them concentrate on that fighter. He'll be fine until some of the spells start to end. Beholders are to be feared, especially the Elder and Undead ones.

What do you mean?

 

Another recourse to fighting Beholders (and thier cousin Gausts (sp.?)) is with the Shield of Balduraan. I rarely have my fighter use a shield because he dual wields, but I went through the Eye quest twice. One with the Shield and another time without.

Basically, you can have ALL of your party members stay at a distance and send in your fighter with the Shield of Balduraan alone against these creatures. The Shield reflects 'ALL' beholder rays.

BTW if you think you've seen a *&#$boatload of beholders ans stuff now...

wait until you find one of the areas in the UNDERDARK. DAMN! I literally had to stop the game afterwards and shower due to the sweat I worked up! It's INSANE. You will need the Shield and the Cloak of Reflection to survive with dignity.

Where can one obtain this gem of a shield? I have gotten the quest, but have yet to go on it.

The shield of Balduran is obtained from one of the extra merchants contained in the bonus CD's

Yes, I do believe it is given via the Bonus CD. The extra vendor in the Adventurers Market. However I also heard it can be found on the Sewer Vendor as well -unconfirmed however.

I also doubt this because I've visited him about 4 times and would've noticed this Shield there (although I did already have it from the Adventurers' Vendor) and would've gladly picked up a second copy for MINSC (& Boo companion).

 

Baldurs Shield! How many items associated with Baldur are they its getting ridiculus. Baldurs butter knife my favourite item, dont go adventuring without it.
