Ascension battle

Okay so i'm on the final battle of ascension where i'm stuck, and very tired of getting my ars handed to me over and over again by the 5 and one of my own party members (sarevok). Does anyone have any tips or anything that could help me out?

 

I wish I were joking about this.......use Control R. Ascension was written originally for Power gamers with heavilly modded games and every cheesy weapon in the book abailable. If you don't have all that stuff, or a party specifically designed to win that battle, it is going to be nigh impossible.

 

You don't have to use CTRL R...

There's a combination withion the game that makes the battle go much smoother, it's called CTRL Y!

Seriously though, that battle is insane. If you don't have a party that has all the overpowered items from the Item Upgrade mod, plus dozens of each and ever HLS, then you're toast.

 

My cleric/mage killed all the five easily.

Stick 3 PIs in a CContingency, set it to Helpless, cast PI and you will have 4 PIs. Each casts TS with one second delay, and then five is yours to kill, with IA you can easily destroy every one of them, keep breaches, lower resistances going and bombard them with Horrid Wiltings, Comets, DBreaths, Holy Smites, if all of your 4 PIs empty their spellbooks they die...fast. In addition you can have Balthazar, he is immune to TS and keeps bashing frozen five. Use Harm on Yaga-shura to insta-kill him.

For Amelysan, use Eagle Feather arrows, from imp. Sarevok battle in hell, they stun without save, lower her resistance, and a single harm=morale failure Melysan.

I was actually dissapointed, I played on core out of fear but next time I will try on insane!

Silverstar I think your Mage/Cleric proves exactly one of the earlier points, that you can't win unless you have a party made perfect for killing them (or in your case just a lone character)

I eventually ended up uninstalling it and just going with the normal end... and I discovered that while some monsters and bosses in ToB are immune to normal traps, mellisan isn't, which was kinda funny because for the final battle I didn't have to move the characters at all

 

Using Control R will enable you to get the satisfaction of killing them yourself......Control Y is quicker since you don't actually have to kill them yourself, though.

 

Why even use the mod if you're just going to cheat your way through the battle?

I think I'm convinced not to download ascension. I usually don't build my chars/parties for überpower. I was thinking about downloading it for the other endings, since most were kind of unsatisfactying. Unless someone can tell me what the endings are, I'm sure I'll never find out.

 

If you walk o the lower right ''power isle'' Mellissan and Sendai won't follow you, that way you can split Balth, Abazigal, Yaga-Shura and Illasera from the others. With a rod of ressurection and a perfectly normal non-power-party you can beat the ascension this way. Yaga-shura was a pain though, i only hit him for 2 damage per hit or so. Luckily I improsoned him for the first round so i could kill the other three mentioned above first.

 

Should I feel honored as my PC is made perfectly for killing the Ascension five?

What the hell does ctrl-R do anyway (I'm not into the cheating thing so I never looked it up).

 

CTRL + R will heal your character and dispell any magic (harmful or beneficial) from the character you use it on...

 

In my opinion, there wasn't that much different/special about the ending with ascension installed....

 

Surely you jest, some endings have been altered for the much better! But maybe some aren't and you might have seen 'em.
