I don't know whether the existance of this thread will be allowed by the mods, but I will try nevertheless.

BIS has officially forbidden the use of bonus merchants via the copying of files in the Override folder. However, it is possible to cheat the thing in via the console.

So, for those that don't have Collector's Edition, or Adventure Pack, and have not been to Chapter 3 yet - here comes the

enable the console, and enter the following command:
ctrlaltdelete:setglobal("IWD2_BONUS_PACK","GLOBAL",1)
Bingo! Now when you meet Nym in the Wandering Village, you can get from him an artifact called "Avarine Decanter". The item is very cool, and I invite you to go check it out.

PS. The other bonus merchant is in Kuldahar, as soon as I get there, I will post the code for entering that tower store.

So what you're basically telling me here is, the Adventurer's Pack is just a marketing scheme?

I can understand that. I can sympathize with that. Heck, I'd want more ca$h too if I was a game programmer...

 

Pardon me for asking a stupid question, but how does one enable the console?

 

Tal, the :help() command was removed from the game release exe and beta patch doesn't have it either.

 

what if ive finished the w.village quests and nym is already gone? can i still get it? is there an item code for it or sumthin i can use?

What does the avarine decanter do? Im just curious, I would never try to cheat myself.

 

Take a look in the Chapter 3 setion of the walkthrough

 

Modjahed, on your walkthrough you say that if you let the guy in the Avarine Decanter free strait away he gives u two items plue one that is worth more than his whole store put together, could you tell me what that is (I am aware that you dont want give too much away but I am still curious).

BIG PHAT SPOILERS ahead:


You can only get the 3 items if you let the Djinni go right away. He has some decent items to buy, but it's well worth it to set him free.

Items you recieve if you set him free:

Star Sapphire. I think that one is self explanitory.

Cloak of Protection +1. Deflection bonus +1, Saving throw bonus +1. The Deflection bonus doesn't stack with other items that do the same thing. But the Saving throw bonus does stack with other items that offer the same bonus.

Brazen Bands. Armor Bonus +5 (non-magical). This item ROCKS!!! It is usable by most classes if not all. (I only tested it on my 1st party of six which did not consist of all the IWD 2 classes). That +5 armor bonus stacks, meaning you can use it with Rings, Cloaks, Amulets of Protection and still get bounus' to armor/deflection.

On another note 50GENAD gives you the Decanter unidentified while 50GENID will give it to you already I.D.

 

I met Nym and he does not have the Avarine Decanter.

Nothing is wrong. The decanter or something else you get based on party average level IIRC.

 

Earl it has nothing to do with editing your ini file or your party level. If I can pull it off anyone can.... And I'm not a mack daddy gamin' pimp like Extremist or any one else on these boards. Why would someone post false info on a game if they haven't played it yet. Party level my butt...

You need to enable the cheat console just like Modjahed explained in the very first post of this thread. Follow Modjahed's instsuctions to the tee and you'll see the decanter in Nym's inventory. I've purchased it three times now from Nym following the above instuctions. It's insanly cheap (about 6,000 gold or so depending the party member who talks to Nym), so don't worry about the price. You should have enough gold by that time to buy it.

I did what Modjahed wrote before I started this party, so that's why I included the quote from my ini-file, in case something there is incorrect (String0=... etc).

I have the European version of the game which I figured could be another possible cause of problem since this thread dates from before the Euro version was out.

My party looks like this:
Levels: 12 - 12 - 12 - 12 - 1 - 2
XP: 79k - 79k - 77k - 70k - 41k - 26k
I'll level up the "squatters" and see what happens.

Party Gold is 200k+ so hardly a problem.

Nope. Not even after levelling up (DKeeper) the party to levels 14-14-14-14-14-13 does Nym have the Avarine D.

Are you playing Heart of Fury?

I was under the impression you had to be Heart of Fury to get it.

 

No, you don't need HoF for it. I never even knew that it was a bonus until someone told me.
