[IMG] Having played through the game thoroughly once and half way 2nd time, I have come to speculate the involvement of the Twisted Rune in the path of Godchild, but to no avail.

If my memory serves me correctly, the Rune is mentioned once in the Tanner quest somewhere.

The 2nd time I heard the mentioning of the Rune is in Amkethran's inn where the innkeeper asks Godchild if s/he is hired by the Monestry just like the Twisted Runes are.

Are they simply a butt-kick mercenary group (they ARE tough) or do they have some kind of involvement in the big scheme of things?

So people, throw in your two cents and help me clear this up please

The Twisted Rune are supposed to be a secret organization that operates in the shadows and has its fingers in a lot of pies. How they're implemented in BG2 is a bit out of canon since only the highest members of their order even know they work for the TR. They were supposed to play a larger role/have a larger quest in BG2 but it got cut down.

The TR seems to be everyone's favorite conspiracy theory. I think I've seen elaborate explanations that connect the TR to Isaea Roenall's plot to take over the de'Arnise Keep, the fallen paladins, the slavers, etc. If you take the tack that someone could be working for the Rune and not be aware of it, you can really make a case for any quest to be tied to them somehow. I think the only solid links I've seen are with the Tanner murders, Shangalar, and the mercenaries in Balthazar's town.

I seem to recall that one of the mods tied TR to the Guarded Compound, where you get Celestial Fury (it added a special rogue stone with a clue in its description to lead to the TR area).

There are two mods of which I know that use or modify the TR connections... the Baldurdash Game Text Update adds the rogue stone description of which you're thinking, and I know Arnel's Nalia Romance ties the Twisted Rune to Isaea Roenall in its major quest.

Actually, I was playing yesterday and wondering the same thing about the twisted rune, that link tells pretty much everything about them though.

Hmmm, they are strong indeed, for a mortal that is... muahahaha

It's a pity that the vampriress met the Godchild in slayer form - she was slaughtered in mere seconds. As for Shangalar the Black, well, his fragile old bones simply couldn't withstand the sheer ferocity of demigod's claws...
