Bad weather and car theft

    I've just been watching the news and it's been reported that because of the bad weather, car theft is on the up. As people leave their engines running while they scrape the ice off the car windows, thieves are jumping into the cars and driving off with them

    One woman has been seriously injured by this as the thief drove the car at her, dragging her under the wheels.

    Please be careful if you're de-icing your cars this winter

    WTF? WHILE they are scapping off their car windows? I always turn my car on before I start scapping the ice off of it. I can understand if you started your car to get it warmed up and then went back inside your house - that's just asking for trouble. But to have somebody jump in your car while your scapping the ice off the windows - I've never heard of that before!

    It's mental but the woman in the news was scraping the ice off to take her son to school. She's now in intensive care

    That's insane, Silvery, but not that surprising. If they catch the guy who did it, he'll get a slap on the wrist and the victim will be dealing with the trauma for years. He'll be boosting another car while on bail long before she is out of the hospital.

    For the next 5 months or so I'll be looking over my shoulder while I'm scraping away!

    I'm glad I have a remote car starter. The car stays locked and can't be driven until the key is put in and turned. I also stay toasty warm while the car defrosts. Luckily, none of my neighbors are environmentalists :D

    I'm just thinking how dangerous of a weapon most ice scrapers are. I mean, one good jab at the neck while the thief is hopping into the car and he'll be the one in the hospital.

    Yes...That perfectly balanced plastic scraper is the bane of car theives lives. Especially if it returns to the thrower!

    In all seriousness, it's nearly happened to me and my mother though. I was eight and luckily had locked her door for a prank :D

    We knew the little bugger who had done it as well. My mother used to babysit him.
