Hi people I'm considering to start a solo game with a barbarian. Now, I haven't played him before so I would like to hear some experiences. Is he the mindless skull-basher I think he is? I know it's going to be hard playing the game with this one but I still wanna try. And what about the rage ability? Is it good? Suggestions and experiences are all welcome. :D

Rage is good, but you'll be fatigued as soon as it runs out, and that brings penalties with it. Personally I would advise against it, but heck let's see how for you'll get. ;)

Barbarian is a one huge mindless killing machine:)He is great for slashing and crushing, but you may have some trouble with larger groups of enemies. At 20lvl you'll get a Tireless Rage ability, so you won't be winded anymore.

Healing will be a problem until you get to chapter 2 and meet Captain Yurst. Because it takes long walks to find someone to do it.

OK, thanks people you have helped me a lot. But how should I multiclass? (exept for 4 levels of fighter, wich I'll certainly do)

Well, you're going solo, so healing might be usefull. Willsaves are important as well, because you don't want your only character charmed or something, so I'm gonna say Cleric. Fits the whole Barbarian Shaman picture.

Though you could also take Bard, but then you'd have to put in a decent CHA.

    A charismatic barbarian?

Good idea about the cleric though!

Don't you eyeball me mister ;)

Seeing how you are taking four levels of fighter, I assumed you were purely powergaming. In which the roleplaying aspect doesn't matter. But I agree, a charismatic Barbarian seems off.

I don't usually powerplay, but I want to try something else too. what about a bardx/sorcererx?
And don't you go and complain like "much spells, all lowlevel". I'll balance it out. :D

A Bard/Sorcerer? I'm not sure, and I'm not trying it out now, but here are my suggestions if you have to try it ;)

For race I'd have to say Aasimar or Drow. Both have their advantages and disadvantages. Decide for yourself which you find more rewarding.

    Drow:
    +2 CHA
    Added Spellresistance (11+Level)
    ECL +2
+ and - Saving Throw modifiers when in and outdoors and during Day and Night respectively.
    -2 Modifier to CON

    Aasimar:
    +2 CHA
    No Spellresistance
    ECL +1
    Minor Resistances (really minor)

Both would get a multiclassing penalty because neither race has sorcerer or bard as a favourite class.

How many times do I have to say this?
You Don't get a multiclassing penalty as long as your levels are balanced. Wich means a difference in levels of no more than 2. For instance:

    level2bard/level3sorcerer 1 level difference
    no penalty

    level2bard/level4sorcerer 2 levels difference
    no penalty

    level2bard/level5sorcerer 3 levels difference
    -20% penalty

    level2bard/level6sorcerer 4 levels difference
    -40% penalty

and so on. For every level more than 2 above your other level you get a -20% penalty. Got it? :shake:  ;)

I do know that. But I still think splitting it evenly between two classes will get you lots of spells, just not in the higher levels.

But I say try your build, and let me know the results when you do.
