    call him Hagbard :D

I would go for the berserker, because

The enrage ability is quite nice and lasts just as long as it's not useless.
Can use fullplate that the barbarian cannot.

though I must say, if you plan on at any time, using ranged weapons, you're rather screwed with the berserker =)

I guess I have thing for the grand plate mail ;)

I also had to choose between this two characters. I chose the berserker, I think he's some stronger but I now think you should choose the barberian, I think it's more funny to play! ANd a little bit harder in this, sometimes too easy game.

[IMG] If you have seen the D&D movie do you remember the dwarf name??? hehehe i like him :)

  5. shadow_thief Guest

actually i go for berserker too.

    they can wear fullplate
    they can have beserker
and i like to have have every1 whos strong in my party to attack melee...so all the credit can go to my VERY good archer in killing and aiming

as for the name...sorry no help but i like those normal names like Jonathan and Neal and Colin and those things(if dudette comes, i dont COLIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

I prefer barbarian. If you solo you can give him the shadow dragon armor and his enrage ability is better than the beserkers. It increases your strenght and constitution and you don't get winded after it wears off. Mastery isn't much better than specialization in bg2 and the extra hitpoints and abilitys are nice. Especially the extra speed and weapon resistance.

For a name how bout you name him after some sort of rock or something?

I'd say berserker is a natural choice fer a dwarf. Not fer his ability to grand master weapons and wear full plate mail, but fer my thought that only half-orcs and humans should be barbarians (wild tribals), and dwarves are disciplined fighters, though with a temper, indeed. :)

Only the mountain dwarves are really disciplined fighters. Besides, how can you call a berserker disciplined???

Well, I can call him disciplined because he can achieve Grand Mastery in weapons, tis not near possible for a barbarian :)
Enrage is just a dwarven racial trait :)

[IMG] Hmm - both classes have strengths, here is a detailed analysis (I think self-quotes aren´t silly when they contain useful info - I´m too lazy to type it again too :D ).

Left to say that I´d choose a dwarven barbarian. Grandmastery is nice and advanageous but not nessecary. And AC isn´t everything. Just ive your barbarian the easthaven defender flail, ring of gaax and single weapon style and you´ll love him.

Ever heard of the dwarven battleragers?

(That would be the berserker class in case you wondered.)

yes, but imho the barbarian should be more fun to play ... less proficient, higher AC, more hitpoints, more rage (and foam on your chin) and all this nice stuff :D

There are no dwarven barbarians being known to me, but there are the dwarven battleragers, who are berserkers of the best kind.

I suggest to give him the axe proficency, because the are some very good axes early in the game, like Frostreaver, Stonefire and Azuredge. The first two is very good against mages and trolls and the third is the ultimate undead killer(throwing axe). Besides, the battle axe finely represents the default dwarven weaponry.

Of course. Give a dwarf an Axe or at least a hammer. A dwarf with a sword isn't cool :)

Gimme a couple of Orc-necks and some space to swing

But like I already said and Ragusa also, the Barbarian is more fun.... not that super-low AC, better beserk etc.

[IMG] Get the BG2soundsets-All16NPCs.zip file and use Korgan's soundset for your dwarf. It's great for relief and comedy when you solo to have a funny character.

Axe is an excellent primary weapon. Specialize in War Hammer later on if you plan on assembling Crom Faeyr. Mace is a good back-up against "certain monsters" if you care to get Mace of Disruption +2.

I'd go with Berserker over a Barbarian.

I played a berserker and it sux, too defensive, good AC, bad fighter compared with Barberian that is more offensive, not a great AC but great damage in combat.

Oh you also needed a name? Call him Foam-beard or Slimebeard :D

Like some of the others above, I would have to say your choice would depend on your playing preferences. My personal vote goes to the Barbarian. I like the Barbarian's fighting abilities and with the armor limitations enjoy the challenge posed defensively.

I am starting (again) with my RPG heavy Hellfire mage: Pyrus "Bob" Batterus

He's pretty funky, hard to use, but funky.
