Beer drinking and alignment!

[IMG] First of all, I´d like to say something about beer drinking in Baldurs Gate 2! Do it! I´ts great! I did not know why a person even COULD drink beer since you do not have any particular reason to do so. But there IS a reason, and I think that it´s a good one - in some places or when facing different enemies. If you meet someone that can cast the "fear" spell, drink like hell before you meet him since your moral increases the more alcohol you drink! And because of that, you will become more resistance to fear... The downside of drinking is that your luck decreases, and that is not so good. But what the hell... I´d be glad to sacrifice a little luck to get drunk ones in a while.. But maybe that´s just me :D
Second of all, I´d like to say that the alignment that is easiest and sometimes funniest to play, is Neutral Evil. If you read the description of the Neutral Evil alignment you see that he´s not all evil. He can be just as good! Almost everything he does, is for money. "It doesn´t matter if it´s legal, questionable or obviously illegal, they take advantage of it" is written in the description of NE. In my point of view, I see that as the every day character! (Every body loots graves for fun, steals from merchants ones in a while, replies foul words with battle(?). But they also do good things! Like helping people that are in trouble..) The only difference is that the Neutral Evil character does it for money!
And therefore, I´m from now on, making (almost) all my characters Neutral Evil.
And that´s that! I hope that you managed to read through the entire text :D
    thx /Zaragoth.

Perhaps a little much trouble to protect yourself against fear when there is a second level mage spell called Resist Fear?
As for the NE alignment it's pretty much the same as Chaotic Neutral: Just do everything as long as it is profitable.

[IMG] Resist Fear, Remove Fear, Golden Sands, or Bitter Black Ale, whatever gets the job done I say.

Big B: Exactly my point :D (And beer is so suitable to dwarfs!)
Silvershade: Chaotic Neutrals doesn´t do things only for money. They do it for other reasons. Like for fun, for having nothing better to do or perhaps to pick fights?
    I don´t really know.

How much you can drink depends on constitution. I've always interpreted Chaotic neutrals as freedom loving individuals, unconstrained by convention or long-term commitment, and free to do whatever he wants, not troubling anyone, not bending over backwards to be good. I was told that true neutral was better for that, but I think true neutrals are committed to maintining a Zen like balance.

I'd always thought of True Neutrals as people who carry no prejudices, either for good or evil. They determine each situation on its own merits(which is why I've always preferred True Neutral).

[IMG] Well, I still must say that Neutral Evil is the thing. One good argument is that it´s also fun playing evil at some times :D

Lawful Good Pallys can respond to foul words with battle. To walk away is cowardly, do you call Sir Bedevere a coward - there is only one answer to this - A Duel of Honour "NI! Ni!" :D

Actually no, Paladins cannot just attack someone over foul words, they cannot attacked unless attacked firsted, with the exceptions of undead and other creatures of obvious evil.

What is obvious to one may not be to another...including evil natures. So long as the paladin who leaps to action isn't wrong in his snap judgement, then he is safe in his rights...after a few of those "too quick to think" acts, he is going to err and when he does, he will be in atonement for a very long time.

Actually the whole "Balance" thing really bugs the hell out of me. Wouldn't you say that the refusal to adhere to good or evil makes you inherently chaotic? In all fairness, I find the whole alignment scheme pretty silly. If Korgan's chaotic evil, is there some special super evil alignment for child slavers? I think it's pretty funny how Jaheira gets on your case, worrying about the evil of the Bhaal taint, but bitches incessantly if your reputation is too high. (In Throne of Bhaal, I actually have her equipped with one of the most evil items I found in the game.) I kind of wish that there were something like the karma/reputation system in Fallout. I'd imagine that in BG1, Sarevok's reputation should be sterling.

Alex, you doth speak a coward's words :D :D Surely no lawful citzen can refuse a duel of honour :D :D
About Korgan's Chaotic evil. In PST the Lawful/chaotic business was supposedly (in the manual at least) about the consistency with which a character was good or evil, so because Korgan is chaotic, he is free to have his own opinions about stuff like slavers and child abusers are REALLY bad.
I totally agree with the idea of having two seperate karma/rep things.
