[IMG] I have a few questions:

    1. In the Beholdr quest, I got to an area where there was an entrance to the "Beholder Lair", but its just one of those question mark things, I couldn't enter. So, I fought one beholder, cleared out the area, and the priest says I'm done, am I done with this quest? I got the EXP anyway, but I think I missed out on something.

    2. I went into the Illithid lair with the mind flayers in the sewers. I cleared out the first area, but that second room with all the flayers? What's up with that? They destroy my party as soon as the door is opened. I'm going back later-any tips?

    3. Any ideas what the Unmber Hulks actually say as they try to confuse you? I say its "Kirosaw, kirosaw". I know it makes no sense and is meaningless, but it sounds like a quiet chant, or language of some kind.

    4. I'm in CH 4, isn't there a tavern I need to go to to get info/leads on the prison?

    Thanks in advance.

If you killed the two guards instead of talking to them, you cannot enter the next part of the dungeon. You still count as having completed the quest, but miss out on a whole area, and a part of Gaxx if i'm not wrong.

At the end of the Mind-Flayer area, there is a part of Crom-Fayer IIRC, and a wand of wander.

No idea what the Umberhulks, but that coul be because it disintergrate them too quickly :D

If chapter 4 is Brynlaw (It's been a long time since I played), then I think you do have to go to an inn. Or you can goto the pirate chiefs house and show him Minsc to get into Spellhold. However you shouyld make sure you do all the quests before leaving, as you never return.

Not topic related so apologies, but.....

What does IIRC stand for? I've seen it a few times now and it'll probably be patently obvious once I'm told, but as yet I'm still in the dark.....anyone?

    Tx.

1.) you missed out on a whole load of exp, some nice items and some general fun.

2.) to stop illithids just cast Chaotic Commands

3.) Umber Hulks say something? that sounds more like something from Pokemon. And besides the Umber Hulks don't *throw* confusion, they are meant to have a Confusing Gaze.

    4.) Yes

[IMG] Some other ideas on fighting Illithids:

    - Missile fire.
    - Summon monsters to keep them occupied.
    - Potion to increase intelligence.

[IMG] The best way to fight mind flayers in my opinion is to summon skeletons and skeleton warriors with the animate dead spell. These undead are absolutely immune to the illithid's brain devouring ability and the psionic blast having no intelligence and a skeleton warrior packs a very good punch. I think the skeleton warrior is one of the strongest pets to be summoned in the game(I said summoned, not gated!)

I agree not to melee mindlayers. Though my cavalier has int-14 it was lowered to 3 finally and only because the Mindflayers preferred to concentrate on Keldorn he survived. Missile fire is the way to wipeém out!

you missed one of the liches, so you cant fight kangaxx and demi lich to receive ring of gaxx(best ring in game)

mind flayers arent that hard just raise 5 skeletons(wich have no brains for them to control)and stay out of reach, let the undead do the rest.
