My party is on level 7 and I still can't deal with both Belsornig's goons and that ugly thing down the corridor. The ugly thing tends to hit often and take like 30 HP on each hit. Am I missing on something, or should I simply wait until I become more uber and in the meantime use another entrance to dungeon level 2? Waitasec, seems there's no way back up...

You are talking about the water temple high priest, right? If so, then I presume the ugly thing is the Juggernaut IIRC.

I found this battle quite easy actually although I think my party was level 8 or 9. What I did was taking out the priests with area effect spells e.g. fireball. Then I had my two tanks and Elmo attack the beast while my cleric stood safely behind them and healed them.

A little info about your party would help.

This is where you need magical weapons. :)

A ring of invisibility just covering your fighters but not the juggernaut helps, magic missiles from a mage with spell penetration feats helps as well.

Admittedly, he's tough, but just making sure the fighters attack in turns so that whoever's hit retreats to recover in the hands of the cleric (or by drinking potions), you should make it ok. That juggie is fairly difficult compared to the rest of the monsters in the game, relative to your level and equipment when you reach the monsters, I mean.

    **SPOIL, some entrances mentioned below**

There are several entrances down and up from each level. Usually found by circling around the corridors in the edge of the map. You can find at least one way up behind the water temple on the north-west side of the map. I think you can circle around from the south side in case you don't want to walk through the water temple. Also, once you go down to the 3:rd level, there will be a shortcut straight up to the surface from the west side of that level. Real handy a bit later on.

Right, I had known those many ways, though I chose the middle-level portal. Aww... and the walkthrough said there was no way back. I didn't check the other accessible directions before saying hello to the high priest of the water temple.

I might try and get some more levels before going there... perhaps. Thanks.
