I just started a multi-player game and realized that many of my characters have class restrictions on armor. I am searching some opinions of what is the best armor in the game for each of the following classes.

    1) Monk - (I guess no armor is best here)
    2) Barbarian
    3) Archer
    4) Assassin
    5) Sorcerer (Obviously no armor, but bracers?)

Also if you can direct me to where the armor can be found I would like to get to it quickly and solve the game fast on my second time through. Thanks-JB.

monk- with right stats you can wear keldorn's armor. But it's an old bug which could be already fixed. temple sewers

barbarian- crimson plate IIRC no idea

archer- shadow dragon (one guess :p )

assasin- shadow dragon also (OK two guesses :D )

sorcerer- obvious bracers of AC3 Ribald

[IMG] Actually, I think that for the sorcerer, if you can get it, the Robe of the Apprenti, with the bracers of dexterity would be a good bet (if dex below 18). The RotA has an AC of 3, and the BoD would add dexterity bonus to AC.

Ofcourse if your dex is already 18, then either the robe or the bracers of AC 3 will both do the same.

Forgot to tell you. The robe is made by the apprentices in planar sphere. And the bracers can be found on the Eyeless cult quest.

2 - 4) Shadow dragon armor (Umar Hills)
    5) Robe of Vecna (bonus merchants)

If you don't like Robe of Vecna get a robe of the (.. alignment goes here) archmagi. These Robes have a AC of 5 so wear them with the bracers of AC3 or bracers of Dex.

It's gonna be a bit of a problem to fit three characters with the same armor, so I would advise this:
    2) Crimson Chain +5 (Adventure mart after underdark)
    3) Shadow dragon Armor
    4) if evil human flesh, else Meav'ar's armor.

IIRC one is at the trademeet smithy,
and one is in the underdark.
The neutral one is not in the game I believe.

    I checked it:
Evil can be bought in the drow city at the platform at the start.
Evil (I think) can also be found on the dragon in hell.
Good can be bought in Trademeet.

Monk-None (cannot wear Keldorn's armor. Official patch fixed that.)
Barbarian-Crimson Chain (Ribald's, under his special wares).
Archer-Shadow Dragon Armor (Shade Lord Dungeon + Cromwell).
    Assassin-Shadow Dragon Armor (see above).
Sorcerer-Robe of Vecna (Ribald's with bonus CD), Bracers of AC3 (Ribald), Robe of Archmagi (3 of them, one for each alignment. Good and Neutral both found in Trademeet, Evil found in Ust'Natha or the Nine Hells).

I have a different take on the best armor for an assassin. He's a thief, and prior to the use any item ability I've decided the best armor you can wear (barring alignment restrictions) is the Human Flesh armor. The shadow dragon armor has an AC of 1 iirc. THe Human Flesh armor has an AC of 3 but it's other abilities are really primo. THe Human Flesh also has 20% magic resistance, a +20 to your move silently which isn't listed in the description of the armor but does show up on your ability screen, and the kicker -- a whopping +4 to your saving throws! Now, you're an assassin so I imagine you'd rather not go toe to toe anyways so in my opinion the wonderful extras of the human flesh far outweigh a difference of only 2 in the AC value.

Where do yo you get the silver dragon blood?
    :hmm:
I thought that the only silver dragon in SoA was Adalon in the underdark, and that is near the end.

Also Aeger's hide armor is AC 3 and has some good bonuses, and you can get that at the Adventure's Mart. It is pricey, so can't get it too early, but a lot earlier than human flesh armor.

For the silver dragon blood you need to kill adalon.
If it's near the end or not depends on how soon you go to spellhold ;)

There is no Cloak of Neutral Archmagi that could be found in the game, only Good and Evil variants.

There is a pair in ToB, though.

[In case you didn't notice, this is not the ToB forum - BTA]

For some reason I'm thinking that the Cloak of the Neutral Archmagi is found on the merchant that sells the Belt of Inertial Barrier, but I'm not sure on this.

Well, if I am wrong, for a neutral mage (if you don't have the Robe of Vecna, the Robe of Fire Resistance is the best).

The silver dragon blood is found on Adalon, if you choose to kill her. She is not the only silver dragon in the game, there is one in the Nine Hells on the good path, but that's meaningless.

The human flesh armor is useable only by evil characters, so only bother with it if your assassin is evil. Regardless, I still prefer the extra AC bonus, since creatures at the end of the game have very low THAC0 and every edge helps.

    @Rastor
Well if your assasin has the 'Use any Item' ability, you can use the human flesh armor. (for good assasins)

Umm...If you wear the shadow dragon armor, won't your theiving abilities be disabled?

[There is no such thing as "Use any Item" in SoA, and that's the forum you're in - BTA]

Human flesh is in Tanner's house, but you will need the blood of the Silver dragon (Adalon) as well. When you have both, go to Umar hills and then speak to one of the merchants outside the inn (the midle one, i think) and buy history of the Zhentarim from him. He will ask your name and just choose and reload till you find the right one, after that you can tell him to make you the armor.

Just to memorize it easily try to memorize just the numbers. In this case that is answer #5. When he asks you what his name is just choose five and it should be the right one however you do need to be evil (I think) to get to kill Adalon. Otherwise it's aginst all your moral codes to kill a silver dragon   .

You don't have to be evil to get the option to kill her, but I agree, don't do it if you're good. You get a lot more xp from helping her anyway.

Shadow Dragon armor is Leather, therefore does not disable thieving abilities.
