Well I know this has been a topic before but I´m interested if people changed their minds:

IMHO he best armors for fighter classes are:

Of course, unmatched there is the drow field plate + (AC -4; weight 70pd ?!)

    1. Armor of the Heart (AC -2; weight 45pd)
    2. Pride of the legion (AC -1; field plate +2, weight 40pd)
    3. Red dragon (AC -1, weight 30 pd; but inferior protection vs. missiles for it is no field plate)
    4. Armor of Balduran and field plate +2 from limited wish (50 pd)
    5. Armor of believe (AC-

    Chainmails & leather:
    1. Bladesinger +4 (AC 1, weight 15 pd) and drow chains +5 (AC 0; weight 12 pd)/ +3 (AC 2; weight 12pd but spellcasting speed bonus & 5% magic resistance)
    2. Shadowdragon scale (AC 1; weight 10pd)
    3. Human flesh leather armor (an evil item - AC 3, +3 on all rescue throws, 20% magic resistance; weight 5pd)

    So, what are your opinions?

I can only add a couple of details to that list. I personally believe that the Red Dragon Scale Armor and the Mithral Field Plate Armor are the best in the game.

I state this only because you can combine a +2 Ring of Protection, or a +2 Cloak of Protection or an Amulet of Protection. Considering that the base of these Armors are -1AC, the added items in a 'sense' make it a -3AC Armor with +2 to saves.

+2 Ring, + 2 Ring of Gaxx, +5 Shield of Sentinal, +1 Helm of Balduran, -4 Dexterity Bonus gives the full -15AC that my frontline Fighter needs. Of course there are other items like Cloak of Sewers, Weapons, Girdles that add AC or protection vs specific damage that only make an Armored Fighter that much more deadly (defensively speaking).

    Great list though!

[IMG] though it is not the lowest armor class plate I prefer the Red Dragon Scale because it does not count as a magical item and therefore can be combined with the rings of protection.

The best all round full plate is of course the Armor of the Heart AC -2.

[IMG] The leather armor, "Night's Gift", is +5. I don't think anyone's mentioned it yet. I can't remember where its found.

I use the nights gift. I think you may get it after clearing out the slavers in the sewers.

Ye get it after completing Immensvale quest, along with Shadow Dragon scales (heh, if ye can ;))
TNG be the most practical item for a figher-type of a thief with backstabbing favor - asassin eg. for it gives a coniderable bonus to HIS and doesnt have penalties of studded leather (Shadowmaster Armor)

[IMG] Cloak of protection +2 (you´ll find it in shahuagin city) not only gives +2 to AC but +2 to all rescue throws and is therefore better than the rings of protection +2.

Works great with red dragon scale, helm of Balduran and ring(s) of Gaax

Saving throws, i assume you mean. Don't Rings of Protection do the same? They do in pen and paper, and I always assumed the same was true in BG.

[IMG] Ring of Protection, Amulet of Protection and Cloak of Protection all give their bonus to both AC and Saves.

You find the Drow armour in the Underdark in chapter 5 (I think) It's pretty amazing, but as you probably guessed from the numerous helpful tips, that its pretty redundant after you leave the underdark. You can get it from the majority of Drow warriors in the city, as well as any encounters you have outside.

Yep, drow equipment is cool but unfortunately it turns to dust when you return from the underdark :(

[IMG] has anyone found out that if you put the drow equiptment in the bag of holding you can get it out of the underdark?

Yep, drow equipment crumbles to dust even when in a bag of holding.

[IMG] Poll: Is anyone really THAT desperate to go through all that just for the additional AC bonus the drow armour has? Well I guess the amount of time it must take almost justifies doing it. But since you're not supposed to get it, it's cheating all the same. Might as well create the armour from the console, you'll save time at least, and it'll be no more cheating than that "tactic".

    P.S.
I let all my drow stuff crumble upon resurfacing and never created any items from the console (except for testing purposes, but that was done while writing some guides for SP and not in regular game play). Just in case some of you might mistake me for some dirty game-flaw exploiting cheater. Not that there's anything wrong with the above mentioned, it's just not my style. Damn, I must be getting too politically correct here. :D
