[IMG] Palladin if you want to use the Holy Avenger +5 sword. Or a Fighter so you can use most of the weapons you find.

For fighter, I would say the Berserker is the best all round class. The Kensai requires a lot of tatical planning and finesse if you aren't going to dual to a mage. The wizard slayer is difficult to play cause you can't use potions.
For the paladin class, all the kits are pretty powerful. Undead slayer might be lacking compared to the others but with the sheer amount of vampires around, it's still a worthwhile class. Regarding the thief, the Assassin class is really pathetic but the other 2 are awesome. For Rangers, the archer is ridiculously powerful and the stalker is handy with his backstabbing abilities. The beastmaster seems weak, being limited to non metal weapons. Just my 2 cents worth.

[IMG] For Paladin kit, Cavalier have a lot of bonus & spell but cannot use Bow, Sling, etc.. not so bad.
Inquisitor, lose _all_ paladin "powers" for Dispel & True Sight, uhm, inquisitor isn't a Paladin... seem like a Mage Hunter (Fighter)!
Undead Hunter lose Lay on Hand, not a big problem.
Excluding Inquisitor, between the two remaining kit (Cavalier/Undead H.) who is the better? distinguishing, for BG2 purpose and for Pen & Paper purpose :)

For thief, Swashbuckler seem a very good compromise, bonus on AC, toHit & Dmg bonus, lack of backstab, uhm, at high lvl he have more combat bonus of a Fighter/Paladin/Ranger! (With three 2Weapon Slot, and Longsword Specialst)
more a fighter than a thief :) oh, yes yes, maintaining all thief's skill...

    Thank you.

For the fighter, I currently use a berserker kit.

Very very effective. Hit hard. Rarely miss. And with the berserker rage ability, it's much better.

[IMG] I don't like to use pure fighters so I will comment on paladins only... Undead Hunter isn't worth selecting becasue lvl drain and hold spells aren't problem... besides you can always use mace of disruption when needed for these risks..Inquisitor is easily the best pala kit cause the spells it offers usually saves the day.Dispel Magic is a great spell and Inquisitors can cast it as they are double their levels and they have an even better spell-True Sight. It is the bane of illusion spells and truly saved my ass countless times.Cavalier is not bad- they are immune to fear but it is not quiet powerful as Inq.Hope this helps

Fighter - Berzerker. It's the best all around fighter class because you loose little but gain a lot.

Ranger - I didn't like any of their Kits.

Paladin - I thought both the undead huter and cavalier were nice, but the cavalier has more advantages in the game.

Thief - Didn't think any of their kits were worth it as well. All give up thieving points ability for mediocre special skills.

Druid - Totemic is the best. No real drawbacks because regular shapeshifting sucks. The animal summoning is nice.

I've play the game 'til chapter 6 with a level 17 kensai and i'm pretty sure that at an high level this is the best fighter kit. And by the way is it suppose to be some kind of Samurai? Because he's quite similar with the Samurai of the P&P rules.

[IMG] I think it is weird that swashbuckler is a thief kit, 'cause in the complete fighters handbook it says that it is a warrior kit (imagine a paladin swashbuckler, that doesnt sound funny) And in the same handbook all warriors (i.e fighter, ranger, paladin) can have the same kits, and neither Inqusitor, Kensai or Beast master (really sucks by the way) are in it

    My opinion :
    - Paladin : I tried Cavalier and Undead Hunter, I prefer the Hunter because of level drains. And Cavalier hindrance is annoying sometimes.

    - Fighter : I tried the 3 kits and I like all. Wizard Slayer is really powerful, I dual classed him with Cleric to get 'Heal' so, potion is not a problem. This character was really usefull in the Twisted Rune to kill the 2 wizards. Finally, they won't be able to cast anything... too nice :)). Kensai dual classed with Thief is astonishing in one to one fight... 220 HP dmg in one hit sometimes... Berseker is... berseker, a good one :)).

Thief, Ranger and Druid : I never used kits with these classes, not comment.
