I'm gonna be playing BG2 again soon, and I'd like the game to be a tad different this time. What are your favorite mods? And which should I steer clear from because of bugginess?

    There's some for you.

Just about any WeiDU mod is going to be pretty well behaved and they are all compatible with each other. Many of the ones in TBG format have some bugs.

Among the most famous ones are Solaufein (anything by Weimer actually) (www.weidu.org), Kelsey, Flirt Packs, and others (www.forgottenwars.net) and Tashia (tashia.fwstudios.net).

I've played Tactics, it's quite challenging (not good if you aren't 100% comfortable with everything in the game yet), Solaufein (nice banters but I personally found a few aspects of it to be a pain in the butt), Flirt Packs, and my own stuff.

I haven't really used many mods but I do like the flirtpack, Item Upgrade, and Dungeon-Be-Gone.
Cal-Culator is pretty fun too actually.
I had a prob with Abystore though, the Dragon Staff or whatever it is - the green and yellow staff (spear?) - I bought it but once i bought it I couldn't move it from the Inventory square it was in. It was completely stuck!

I almost always install convenience mods (Ease-of-Ese, Dungeon-Be-Gone and Weimer's item upgrade) simply because I've played BG2 too many times.

I'll typically toss on Tashia, Imoen, and the flirt packs as well. I have the feeling the newly released banter pack will be added to this list as well. ;)

Thanks for the bug report. The fixed version should be up on my site by the time you read this.

The Item Upgrade Mod had me playing the game in a whole way simply because you actually have to pay attention to gems and other miscellaneous items that are generally sold or discarded. I just started Tactics and I'm relieved to say I made it out of the first dungeon intact. I wouldn't have been surprised if Irenicus himself would have teleported in and ordered me back to my cage. Newbies need not apply. Dungeon-be-Gone Will prove very useful if you aren't ready for Tactics. Solaufien is worth the effort too, IMO.

Beware of The Darkest Day. It could very possibly ruin BG2 for you forever (very, very buggy)

All the mods listed though are great!

I just *love* the depth put into ImoenRomance. Easily the best romance out there IMHO.

To be fair, there's other Dialogue options. Anyway, I find it odd that you romance your sister anyhow (even if she's only half related). I havn't played the mod, so unless there's an explanation in the course of the romance, I wouldn't use it.

[IMG] Sometime in the near future, I’m going to install the Tactics mod, and I have a couple of questions:

    1. Has anyone played the fighter-archer kit included with Tactics? What did you think? Did you dual it to anything? (I’m thinking a level 9 dual to mage would be good).
    2. My approach so far to SoA has been mainly melee and, to a lesser extent, non-magical ranged (ie bows), so my parties tend to be tank-heavy. Other than for buffing, I use magic only when melee/bows fail, which isn’t often. However, I wouldn’t mind a mod which forces me to rely more on magic; does Tactics accomplish that? And if so, would I need more than 1 mage and 1 cleric (which so far has been enough)?

    Thanks for any input.

I'll go so far to say if you don't use some serious magics in Tactics, it's the hand screen for you. More than 1 mage and 1 cleric? I found two of each to barely be enough at times.

    Grandalf, whose item pack?

Thanks, Rastor. I was hoping someone would tell me that :D

I think the item pack Grandalf means is this one. I was wondering about it myself. But I read somewhere that the items are way too cheap for what they offer (I seem to recall a belt that increases strength to 24 selling for about 1,100 GP).

Thanks for all the responses! I'll definitely be skipping the Imoen romance mod -- rape and incest, I don't think so. Is anyone working on a Minsc romance mod?

    Rastor is.

I have that item pack...I tend to think it's overpowered. Lots of swords adding extra attacks, a +10 enchanted sword, etc. Also, some of the items are bugged (though this could just be my combination of mods): the Priest's Belt gives me 24 strength, and Sunus Greywar's Belt, which is supposed to give me 24 strength, gives me nothing at all.

After reading that thread posted by Icelus, the dialogue options in the Imoen romance mod - not to mention the very idea to begin with - are just repulsive. I had no idea it was THAT bad. I understand that there are "other dialogue options," but whoever made that mod is just a seriously sick bastard. Even if you take the good path here, for god's sake people - IT'S YOUR SISTER! Don't even get me started on the whole rape thing. I feel bad for the younger players who install it not knowing what they're getting into.

I personally think the mod should be banned. In fact, I hope Tal removes it from the downloads section. Anyone who would find that sort of thing fun I would have to wonder about their emotional state. Seriously. :toofar:

    Dear Death Rabbit :)

You're opinion brought up some deep thoughts in me :D
I was just thinking that maybe someone enjoys a good ol' w**k in front of the comp? :shake:

I personally haven't installed it, but maybe some ppl just like it for the sake of romance (Dunno, I sure don't :) )

    Aaaand, back to the chase.
How about mods Dungeon-Be-gone or Item Upgrade, What do you think of them? or Soulafein?
I've installed them and the IU seems very good and also D-B-G, but I need your opinions and if you have more to add, go ahead :)

    :EDIT:
And oh yeah, If that's the case on Item pack, then I'll skip it.. The IU gives enough:) Including Celestial Fury +5 etc :D
though they cost like hell :(
But anyways, enough of this blah blah blah :)
