What in your opinions are the movies with all the best music and songs in it for me it would have to be.

    1. Speed-this movies action sound track was simply awesome, a classic.

    2. Matrix-The lobby shooting scene had some of the best scenes but the scene with the best music was the Neo/Smith fight in the subway.

    3. Matrix-that song at the end after Neo's "I know your out there, I can feel you now" speech on the phone, by Rage against the Machine ("Wake up" - "cause what you reap is what you sow" )

Daredevil has a brilliant soundtrack. Lots of Fuel and Evanescence songs. :D Especially when thingy is practising with her sand bags, with Bring Me To Life playing.

The Star Wars series in my opinion has the best original score in any film, closely followed by LotR.
As for soundtrack i'd have to go with The Matrix.

Gladiator has an awesome soundtrack, especially The Battle. Pirates of the Carribean too, and naturally, anything by John Williams is really high quality.

I love the soundtrack to Beauty and the Beast, even a bit more than The Hunchback of Notre Dame.

    Yeah, call me a sissy.

Wow, you guys all need to see some old movies. "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers" or "An American in Paris". Fantastic score and choreography in both.

Grey: The soundtrack of "Beauty and the Beast" is brilliant, and is reminiscent of the old Broadway musicals. It is also the last major work before Howard Ashmen's death due to AIDS. His collaborator, Alan Menken also did "The Little Mermaid", "Pocahontas" and worked with Tim Rice for the "Lion King". It is fine work...don't forget that "Beauty and the Beast" is the only animated feature to be nominated for Best Picture. Surely there must be a reason!

Hard to say if movies concerned. I rather have favourite songs. But then, Star Wars for sure. Pirates of the Caribbean, right. Gladiator. Liked Titanic sounds and music, but it's sissy, so it bores into coma quickly. Riders of the Lost Arc also deserves a mention.

Now, I haven't watched Evita, but "Don't cry for me Argentina" is certainly a great one. So great that I even try to learn to sing it :D My could-have-been sings it in Spanish

LoTR score was amazing. They conducted more music for the extended DVD of FoTR. Now thats commitment.

    Soundtrack? Brother Where Art Thou.

Well, if we're counting songs, then I'll vote for the songs to that 19th century Kevin Kline klassic, The Pirates of Penzance.

    "I am the very model of a modern Presbyterian...uh, I mean, Major-General..."

Aiky, of course you would say
if for no other reason than to support your recent behavior with Deathmage in chat!

Yeah, I know all about it, and I don't even go there!

@Grey: Check out "HMS Pinafore" from which "Pirates of Penzance" drew it's inspiration. Wait, nevermind, Pinafore has never been a movie, just a stage show.

Uh...HMS Pinafore and The Pirates of Penzance were both written by the same duo...and, in fact, in the Kevin Kline version, they have a mock-Pinafore play that the pirates sabotage.

    Gilbert and Sullivan rock!

Perhaps we should work to enlighten some of our fellow SP'ers to the wonder of the old musical. John Williams...his music is nice, but I have a hard time separarting Jaws from Star Wars from Raiders from ET from Jurassic Park, etc, etc, etc.

You want genius, go check out Rogers and Hammerstein.

I take back #2 I just remembered the music when Neo/Morpheous fought and that was a lot better imo.

My favourite movie soundrack is from "Conan the Barbarian". Although, in my opinion, the best combination of music and picture is in the "Apocalypse now", when the american helicopters are heading to a vietnamese village and the loudspeakers on one of the helicopters play Wagner's "Ride of the Valkyrie".

The Matrix: Revolutions had an excellent operatic soundtrack. I especially liked "woman can drive", "Neodammerung" (played during the climactic fight with Smith) "Why, Mr Anderson?" (played just after the same fight) and "Spirit of the Universe" (played near the end.) Also, "Navras," played with the end credits.

Dances with Wolves has one of the best movie scores ever. LotR is up there as well, and of course anything John Williams does is simply brilliant, the occasional Jar Jar and all.

Danny Elfman definitely gets the award for most versatile and creative soundtrack composer.

I'm also quite partial to the Rocky Horror Picture Show soundtrack. :)

As far as score alnoe: LotR, anything Danny Elfman does (versatility? from The Simpsons to Batman et al, you can't really get too much more versatile can you?), Dances With Wolves and The Last Mohican top it for me.

Individual songs? Bring me To Life from Daredevil, whatever-it's-called by Clannad from Mohicans (played when Hawkeye, Chingachgook and Uncas are chasing after Alice and Cora) and probably Hero from Spider-Man always get me.

Whole soundtracks? Call me uncultured if you will but I haven't seen many older musical films but I DID see Miss Saigon at the Capitol Theatre in Sydney and loved it, but for movies I'd have to vote Rocky Horror Picture Show, Grease and Cry Baby. The last simply because it was so camp it was cool.
