I was wondering if people could share from their experience what were the best fighting and/or arcane-based multi-class recipes they played with.

    Druid5/Shifter11/Dwarven Defender 24.

Specializing in Undead Shape. (That's why you have to take the 11th level of Shifter in Epic.)

Sorcerer/Dragon Disciple. Then again it's the only multiclass I've tried :shake:
With the plethora of stat-increasing items (not to mention spells), you can turn your Sorcerer into a true killing machine that breathes fire, can drop half the enemies with a single spell, and can be made immune to just about anything in the game. My Sorcerer kicks butt even in melee now, and I've even gotten him to dual-wield (thanks to a lovely set of bracers that give you Ambidextrity and Two-weapon fighting feats for free). Beats being a warrior any day if you ask me.

Risen defender truly is a DR-version of an ultimate tank.

I was doing some experimenting with it. Those last two Dwarven defenders levels are solely for higher HPs, nothing more. They could be assigned to Druid class, if you can be bothered with minimal buffs of a lvl5-7 druid.

Another point is.. where do you put stat points after reaching 21 CON?
Some say dexterity for AC, but it's a laughable difference, it cant go far beyond 50 in any case. I saw a build going for DevCrit which it reached at lvl40. Not terribly useful for a build like that, but still better than anything else.
That is, unless you're roleplaying and putting the points in int/wis/cha, which i usualy do.

I had a rouge8/bard2/Arcane archerX. With this character I was doing massive damage and if you had an unlimited ammo bow then you were set. Plus I had a good armor class and with the DR belts a good dr against all comers. Lastly you get evasion and other rouge awesomeness. If you put even more levels into rouge at epic level you will gain bouns feats fairly fast until 18th and you will gain access to rouge special abilities at 10th which can be a real boon.

It probably matters what type of play do you have in mind. For the single player game, you can't go much over level 25, and if you take a spellcasting class as your main, you want to put most of your levels in that.

I find a spellcasterX/fighter1/rogue2 to be a pretty good build. Take the second rogue level at lev12, so you can put 15 points in Tumble; then you won't have problems with attacks of opportunity while in combat. That will also give you evasion, and if you start with a reasonable Dex, you don't have to worry about enemy wizards spells either. I typically take the fighter level early, so I can use some heavy armor (which is more useful at low levels, anyhow) and decent weapons. Buff spells can be used to give you an edge in melee combat. As I gain more levels, I switch to lighter armor, and make more use of direct damage or disabling spells.

I had a lot of fun with a Half Orc Bard 5/RDD 10/CoT X (Half Orc for fun and RPing reasons really). Very reliable this guy used a scythe for extra damage.
I also tried a Rogue/Fighter/WM dual wielding kukris with improved criticals...
I still have to play a full time spellcaster, I may try a Cleric for a change.

Human Necro 10-15/Pale Master X is my favorite caster multi -class (since there is no Archmage prestige class in NWN). Very high survivability, you'll really only notice a drop off in spell casting when it comes to Dispel Magic and penetrating spell resistance.

Fighter 10/Blackguard X is my favorite mult-class in the game. Not only do you get front line HD, but the ability to summon an ally, a sneak attack (and with NWN's odd implimentation of sneak attack, it makes the Blackguard VERY powerful) and the ability to add your Cha to your saves.

Someone had a lot of fun with a Paladin/Monk/Weaponmaster or was it CoT instead of WM, I don't remember.

My favourite favourite FAVOURITE character is...

    Rogue3/Fighter 4/Wizard X...

You get Weapon specialisation, 2d6 sneak attack, Evasion, access to all the utility skills as Class Skills, a bucketload of skill points for all those nifty cross class skills, all weapon and armor proficiencies, three attacks per round (IIRC) and really GREAT arcane spell casting.

And my second favorite, melee class is Fighter 4/Cleric X/Bard 15...

Gets full divine spellcasting, weapon specialisation, Bard Song, Bard spells such as Haste, Imp. Invisibility etc...really powerful class.

Race for all is Human of course.
