hey im new to this forum, and i dont know if this question has been asked? well i plan on making a Kensai, dueled to mage later. I've heard Viconia is a great cleric,and i pretty sure i want her. Should i also get Jahiera?(however u spell it) thanx

 

Viconia is great, the only really good cleric in the game. Plus, if you give her a proficiency point in hammers and then get Crom Faer for her (if you don't know what that is, you'll figure it out), she turns into a pretty effective front-line fighter as well.

As for Jaheira, well, she's pretty hit and miss. On the up side, she's a pretty sturdy fighter (though druid weapon restrictions can make that frustrating), also she's great for supplementing your cleric with druid spells and summoning. On the downside, since she's a multi-class character, she can't be as advanced a priest as a straight priest. Also, like I said, the whole druid weapons thing is annoying. I found her pretty effective as a 2nd line fighter (weilding one of the better staffs) with backup spells. But I wouldn't use her as my only priest.

 

I'll say it again and again. I like fighter/druids. Go ahead and take her. She works well as a fighter with the smitar +2 that gives one extra attack per round, but you have to give her a perminant strength boost of some sort or it isn't worth it. I gave her the gauntlets of ogre power. If you want to do a little cheating(just a little), import a character from BG1 with frostbrand +3 on him. She can use this. She makes a pretty good dual wielder with both of those scmitars, but not great. Any way, I think her druid spells suppliment another cleric's nicely(I used Ariee), and she makes a really nice front line fighter as long as you have other good ones(the Kensai D mage is REALLY nice by the way). If you can put up with her attitude, I say take her as long as your willing to give her a strength boost pretty quickly.

 

Jaheira and Viconia are definately worth it, if only for their personalities. Viconia can get to level 21 as a cleric and has a lot of bonus spells for her high wis. Jaheria also complement the party with healing and other very useful spells, and is a solid fighter. Get 'em both in my opinion.

 

Despite what some ppl say, i always find Aerie very good. Although she's no warrior, i find her ablity 2 use mage and cleric spells really good. Just give her a sling +3 and some bullets and she can be quite useful. Although u may not want her dude to her constant whining
