What company has the monopoly on Ads?

fer me, its gotta be Budweiser, for sheer variety, perseveerance, and comical ability...

From Wasuuuuup, to Real Men of Genius, Real American Heroes, and the 3 frogs, and the two chameleons... how can you fault it?

Your views? I cuold robly think of better ads with time, but hey, time is a valuable, thing, watch it fly by as the Pendulum swings (<-Linkin Park)

I think the funniest commercial I've ever seen (besides the Budweiser ads) was an ad by Mt. Dew where a guy on a bike chases down a cheeta and sticks his arm down it's throat to get his Dew...or the other Mt. Dew ad where the guy headbutts a ram...that was pretty good too. :rolling:

I don't know which company has monopoly on TV ads, but singled out, currently my best TV ad is that one for Fiat Stillo, with Schuhmacher and Barricello (sp?) Maybe because I don't like Schuhmacher and, I think, creators also :)

[IMG] Heh, I haven't actually seen those ads myself but they sound pretty funny...

    (seems like LOTR Ad)

    They are coming...
    Orcs...
    Orcs?
    ding-dong!
OAKLAND RUGBY TEAM! *team rushes in and chucks rugby ball around*

    And:

    You have my sword!
    And my bow!
And my axe! And my rubber duck!

[IMG] IT was banned after the first showing. but it was a great advert for salmon or something. There's a bear fishing in a river high in the mountains, surrounded by pine forest. Suddenly a guy in a yellow anorak jumps onscreen and starts punching the bear, smashing it with a right hook. He steals its salmon while it's hurt, and drives off in his moped. It's completely hilarious!

[IMG] Yerril, I've seen something similar, except it involves the bear kicking the crap out of the man, Ali-style.

[IMG] I wish I could remember what product or service was being sold, but in the commercial a business man was walking alongside a colleague assuring him that all the details of some business maneuver were well inside his head. Then out of nowhere, as they turn the corner, the guy boasting hits his head on an pull out desk or something and gets completely clotheslined by it and falls to the ground. It's so abrupt it's hilarious. Then the guy who he was with is sitting at a meeting, and another guys sitting next to him tells him not to worry because he too has the details all in his head. At that very moment the new boaster, who has been leaning on one arm, his hand on his face/elbow on table, slips. In that his arm slips out from under him and his jaw hits smack down on the wooden table, thus taking him out as well.

I just thought it was pretty funny.

Geico can be good at times too. Nothing like the guy who didn't want mayo getting his sandwich wiped on the table.

This was a commercial for the Super Bowl (of which cost $2 million)

Two guys in a garage clapping while a monkey prances about

"Well, we just wasted $2 million."

What are you going to do with your money?

AmeriBank (or some other financial company)

I like the satelite comercials there great (I can't remember the name of the company). My favirote commercial that I can remember though went something like this.

    I need to run
    I need to keep up
    I need to keep going
(and the truck he is chasing because it had his beer on it's bumper suddenely stops and he runs into the truck.
    I need a doctor

I don't think it's the exact words but you get the point. I laughed at that for like a half an hour straight.

I suppose commercials are area based as well. My faves are Canadian commercials. There is a Labbats Blue beer commercial they play here with the guy in the stuffed bear singing kareoke with a bunch of oriental guys. Funniest commercial i have ever seen hehe.

Another of my faves is the Molson Canadian Commercials. They have tons of hilarious commercials. Other then that i tend to change the channel when the commercials come on :)

[IMG] The post that started this thread
    The product perhaps.

Although as for the ads themselves, the wassssup ads are pretty awful.

There's an ad about people burning chips and it was set on fire. Then it goes "Yes, potato chips are greasy, try our fatless chips and whatnot..." and there's another Pringles ad which starts off with nearly the same scene, except then the filmed goes "CUT!" and then the staff begins to eat pringle. Amusing. :)

The salmon advert is for "John West, tinned salmon" and is bloody excellent. I've got a copy on my old PC, might be able to post a link at some stage for all of you to see.

As for other adverts, beer adverts are generally the best, because they can't say anything good about the product, so they make you laugh to remember them.

Loved the Bud ads "Real men of genius / American heros"

Best at the moment UK anyway: John Smiths Smooth (Bitter).
Picture the following: Football training, some guys being very cool, keeping the ball up and passing it around cleverly. Then it's passed to a well built guy, who with no attempt to keep it in play kicks it well out of the ground. CHest out, sholders back: "Have it!", and walks over to a table on side, pushes out of the way the sliced oranges and picks up the can of John Smiths.

    Like his style.

Sigh... does the person who started this thread live in England? When I first moved to Canada it seemed to me that in England the advertisements are better than the TV in North America. My favorite one was for- I think- NatWest, and featured the punk character from the Young Ones series trying to open a bank account, and having to shave off his mohawk, take out his safety pins, put on a suit etc- and still getting turned away by snotty tellers until he got to... whichever bank it was doing the ad. Yes, I'm old.

Here my favorite ad is the Viagra one, with the chubby fellow in a suit swinging around telephone poles and vaulting over newspaper-vending machines singing "Good morning, good MOR-ning!". It always makes me smile and sing along too, so happy for the poor little guy who finally got laid!
