I'm playing BG1 with Easy Tutu and was not able to incorporate the TOSC in my installation (which is another issue), but will I be capped at the BG1 89k XP's like the original game, or is there no cap.

I'm curious because I'm getting there and I think I've nerfed myself on a couple of fronts. My tanks are Jaheira and Yeslick who are using the dagger of venom and the war hammer+1 which are small damage weapons, with no gauntlets of ogre power they're not exactly tearing it up.

I do fine on ranged attacks and magic, but really can't dole out the melee damage. I'm loathe to put Kivan and Coran into the fray up close and personal, but I may have to.

    Any thoughts?

Use the "strength" spell to get 18/00 for your tanks.

If you're capped at all, I'm guessing it will be at 2.85 million xp, like BG2:SoA.

As for your tanks not being uber-strong, change your party tactics. In my current game, my only real tank is the PC, I'm using Jaheira and Anomen as backup tanks. First round, the PC charges in, the rest of the party start firing slings, bows and crossbows. If the PC is having a hard time, he pulls back towards Jaheira and Anomen who switch to melee weapons while the other three characters continue with the ranged attacks.

You're capped at 89k without TotSC and 161k with, just like the original game. If you want the cap removed, Tweaks will take care of it.

    Hello -

Actually, EasyTutu uses a unified base of game resources which started as TotSC-only. My guess is that you will find the XP cap to be 161,000 in all cases.

I suppose I should think about addressing the no-TotSC XP cap to make it consistent with vanilla BG1. To date, though, no one has complained about it. :)

I'd like to complain that the non-TotSC XP cap is 161k.

I'd like to complain that I didn't read the original question correctly, and now retract my idiotic statement regarding XP. I am quite clearly incapable of cognative processes, and have scheduled myself for termination.

I second CamDawg's complaint. I'd like to see an EasyTutu with a higher XP cap for BG1.

I was petitioning for the opposite--without TotSC, I'd like to see the original XP cap of 89k in place.

    Hello -

G3's BG2 Tweaks has a component to remove the cap, if that is what you are looking for.

And when I mentioned complaints, I was referring to EasyTutu users, not to contrary mod-makers. :)

    I'm not contrary. (Get it?)

In all seriousness, one of Tutu's big advantages over BGT has always been that it's a more faithful conversion of BG. If it seems like nitpicking that I don't like the inaccurate non-TotSC XP cap, keep in mind that this faithfulness was why many of us old-timers preferred Tutu over BGT in the first place--especially us old-timers that worked on BGT before jumping ship.

    Hello -

This is now coded. I'm hoping to get a release out the door before Christmas. The journal is still progressing slowly and hasn't advanced much since the last release, but there are some good bug fixes that will be included.
