I've got BG and BG2+ToB, so I installed BGTuTu, which after I changed the configuration file installed fine.

Question: Do I start playing BGTuTu from the BG2 game? (Meaning do I click the ToB icon to play BG1.) Or do I play it right from BG1?

It gives me an Assertion Error when I play it from BG1 start screen.

Your should start Tutu through BG2, with your ToB CD in the drive. :)

    Hmm... it's still not working.

Could someone give me a step by step of what to do after it's installed?

When I try to start a new game through BG2 it just crashes.

I don't need to start a new game pre-TuTu in Bg1, then transfer it over to BG2 save folder and open it, do I?

You should be able to start a new game directly with Tutu. Do you have TotSC? There were some problems with v4 in that it requires a TotSC-only file (it's going to be fixed in v5). They have it up over on the Tutu troubleshooting boards.

I don't have TotSC. Do I need to download another file? It didn't say anything about that in the readme.

If so, could you give me a link to the troubleshooting boards?

It's a problem that they pinpointed after v4 was released. It's been fixed locally in their v5 release, but it's not out yet so they have a stopgap fix for it. Here's the troubleshooting forum and the specific non-TotSC thread that (I think) will solve your problem.

    No... it didn't work.

Maybe I did something wrong? When I would click on the file it would show me a big column with a bunch of info. Obviously I can't put that into my Override folder, so do I go save target as, or copy shortcut or what?

BTW... my problem is that when I make a new character I think it's still in BG2 because it gives me 6 prof points, but when I click ACCEPT it crashes.

Right-click the file, choose "save as" and put it into your BG1 override folder and re-install Tutu. If that doesn't work, try the Tutu boards since I'm out of ideas. :(

It worked! I didn't realize I had to install it again.

    Thanks CamDawg!

I'm not sure but isn't Tutu the BG equal of SoA's SK? I used to have BG until the idiot house renovater's somehow lost it somewhere :(

But if you wan't to make the NPC's into whatever class/kit/race you want here's how.

Put the NPC('s) to level 1 and put their stats, saving throws etc to level one equivilent give them HP's according to their level (what is it for a fighter? I think its 14 HP but it's so long ago I forgot), change their class/kit, set their exp to 0, save, load and finally Console their exp to whatever it was before and volia.

Imagine the possibility's like Imoen as a Fighter or Edwin as a Theif, or Minsc as a mage  ok maybe that's going just a BIT too far :) it would be funny though.

No, no, no... you're thinking of a program called GateKeeper (ShadowKeeper is the BG2 equivalent to GateKeeper). Everyone knows how to change the class/race/kit through that program!

BG1TuTu is a program that let's you play BG1 through the BG2 engine (which means it looks, acts, and feels like BG2).

It's great! It's like adding the best possible mod to BG2.

Tutu is pretty cool, though still a bit tempermental. It's only going to get better, though.

    @Mystra
    Glad to help. :)

I have a problem with tutu, but I didn't want to open a new thread about it; When I create a character it gives me a lot less hitpoints than it's suposse to. For example I made a fighter with 18 Con and it give him 5 hitpoints and a mage/thief had 1 hitpoint... I have BG + Totsc patched and BGII without ToB patched. :help:

This is a known issue with BG2 and Tutu. Sometimes characters get an extra hit die on creation, it's just much more noticeable when chracters start at level 1. In Tutu, they tried to take away the extra hit die via script and sometimes it doesn't work very well. For now the only solution is to use ShadowKeeper to re-adjust your HP to where they should be.
