IGN has interviewed CEOs Greg Zeschuk from BioWare and Andrew Goldman from Pandemic, talking about the recently formed partnership under the auspices of Elevation. Here's an excerpt:

IGN: Tell us a little about today's announcement.

Greg Zeschuk: Both developers have been around for quite a while, and we've been pretty successful. Collectively BioWare and Pandemic have sold over 27 million copies of games during their existence; that adds up to around $800 million of revenue for those titles. We're pretty big developers, and what's happened is we have this great opportunity to start working together. The catalyst for this was Elevation Partners. What we're setting out to do is to bring two studios under this new umbrella. It's something that we think is going to lead to tremendous games, more great games from both studios and franchises that people know -- and maybe even new ones in the future.

Andrew Goldman: So many of the great franchises in games have come from independent developers. It's almost hard to find one that didn't begin with an independent developer, whether it's Halo, Grand Theft Auto, even Madden, if you go far enough back, it was an indie that started it. What's so exciting about this is that yesterday we were doing great as independent developers, and now we have a long, sustainable future as independent developers. That lets us always stay as BioWare and Pandemic and continue to build games that will drive the industry.
