    I was simply wondering why arent there swords in Planescape setting. Or is it perhaps only in Planescape: Torment? Why does everybody use huge club-like weapons and large axes? The armor is also more ornamental rather than protective. Why is that?

    There are swords in the setting, (actually, there's also one in the game), but not having them on every step is another of the game's interesting quirks.

    Same with armour. The goal BIS had with PS:T was to make as non-typical a D&D CRPG as possible.

    Like it says in the manual;
    "You have more to fear from ideas and beliefs than from some berk with a sword."
    Having fewer weapons and armour emphasises this.

    Also the general theme of the game, it is focused much more on the gutters and slums. Most people won't have swords, weapons suchs as knives, daggers and clubs are much more common. same goes for any sort of ranged attacks. You have no idea how desperate i was to find a simple BOW the first time i played the game, having played Baldurs Gate 1 for half a year before that.

    It's an Excelent way to put focus on what kind of enviroment you are located in.

    well, making these weapons would require a deal of talent, education isnt exactly thriving in sigil
