Bonds indicted on account of perjury

Apparently the prosecution now has positive tests for Bonds using performance enhancing drugs. Hopefully this will get the home run record back in the hands of Hammering Hank where it belongs. I'd love to see McGuire fall too, but I doubt that'll ever happen.

This could be serious. As in Go directly to Jail, do not pass Go, do not collect $200 million dollars serious!

Basically, the Toronto based sports radio program where I heard this suggested that they may have something on Bonds that they believe will stick.

 

ESPN's TV Network station spoke of a blood test of B. Bonds that tested positive for HGH being in the possession of the S.F. DA.

They are looking to crucify Bonds from what I hear. No intention of settling outside of court or cutting Mr. Bonds a deal.

 

If convicted, the crimes would carry a maximum setence of up to 30 years in prison. However, since Bonds does not have a previous criminal record, most lawyers believe that a conviction would likely result in a much lesser sentence - no more than 2 years, and possibly only several months.

While I never liked Bonds, this doesn't make me feel any better. There's no way that they will ever take the record away from him, as he hasn't ever tested positive. Now, if what Ilmater's Suffering says is true - that they actually have a positive HGH blood test, then that changes things. My question of course would be, "How did they get this test?" AFAIK, baseball doesn't conduct blood tests, so if it was done by someone outside of baseball, Bonds would have had to agreed to it, and I don't see that happening.

 

Some of the hearsay that's reached me (and because of what it is, take it at least with a grain of salt) is that BALCO provided the blood test (maybe this lead to consideration for sentencing since the prosecution has stated it received this info during the trial in Bonds was said to have perjured himself).

 

What I'm hearing is that Bonds didn't know what BALCO was giving him, but federal prosecutors believe otherwise...
