Just thought I'd throw this out.

I've played with both a finesse sniper and the firepower king. The firepower king was much more deadly by the end (including to his own people with a critical miss -- I don't know how many time I had to reload because I chunked one or more of my own guys).

The only difficult part with not having finesse in Fallout 2 was the boxing ring. Not being able to target the eyes made the fights drag out a lot longer (and I got my ear bit off). The fight in the casino with all the civilians was much more difficult with big guns -- the bozar is just too deadly.

One shot kills are fun -- but when you can mass three or four bad guys and chunk them all in a round ... well ... that's just better.

And Frank Horrigan is a wimp against a bozar.

Did you know you can steal two bozars for absolutely free from the two guards at the weapon shop in NCR.

    I love this game:D

Fallout 3 is going to suck:(

Ah, the bozar. A nice gun, efficient, but not my favorite.

Give me either a good old handcannon, like a desert eagle or a .223 or an old fashioned shotgun. I never did like the power/heavy weapons, too sci-fi for me. The only heavy I will ever use is the flame thrower, which rocks by the way.

Yeah. IIRC, it never took more than two bursts to kill an Enclave soldier, and one was usually enough.

Compare that to the Vindicator. Meh. Miniguns: should be awesome, but somehow are so lame.

The small rounds of the miniguns were effectively stopped by armor. The .223 fired by the Bozar had great penetrating ability against all armor.

Bozars rule not only because they are easily obtainable (you can pick pocket those guards in the NCR even if you haven't put any skill into "steal", if you just save and reload a few times),
You can also kill the same guards right after, along with the merchant they are guarding, to get access to all his stuff (plus a place to stash your own stuff), and you will only get 5-10 minus to your reputation, and no one in the town will be mad at you
but the ammo it uses is one of the most common in the whole game, which means you can build up stashes here and there (even though you shouldn't run out that often if you have around 2000 in your inventory). This alone makes it better than the Vindicator (and I'm not sure, but isn't it better than the Vindicator anyway? In terms of damage that is.).

Yeah, and that was sorta annoying. I mean, I'm not an engineer. I'm not a soldier. It's rather unlikely I'll ever become either. But I'm fairly confident that Real World Miniguns don't really care what sort of personal armor you're wearing.

Not that my complaint is realism, mind. Rather it's verisimilitude. If I'm toting around something with an ungodly rate of fire, I wanna be able to actually kill stuff with it. Stuff other than raiders and giant mole rats and rad scorpions. Stuff like, y'know, Deathclaws and Enclave troopers.

Really, I just want my miniguns to be Real Damn Cool. And they weren't. Which made me sad :(

You know a character with high luck (9 or 10), 12 action points, faster ROF, better criticals, and a gauss pistol can one hit kill (or at least incapacitate) 3 enemies a round with targeted shots and no need to lug around a heavy weapon, tons of ammo, or even worry about chunking your allies.

Yeah, but then you're just shooting people in the eyes with a pistol, not turning them into ground beef with a MMG

also, gauss ammo is so much rarer than .223

I prefer the small rifles finesse route for roleplaying, when I play through the game as if I didnt already know where to steal a bozar out in the middle of the desert

For powergaming, bozar all the way!

Not really if you are pursued by Bounty Hunters with plenty of ammo.

Gauss ammo isn't rare enough to be a big deal, since you can't burst-fire with a Gauss Rifle or Pistol. If you've got a one shot, one kill sniper-type character, you'll be swimming in Ammo once you reach San Francisco. Until then, a scoped hunting rifle or sniper rifle paired with a .44 or .223 pistol will get the job done more than well enough.

Just had to toss that one out, didn't ya? If Fallout 3 doesn't have Bozars it will suck. It'll have Bozars, right?
