[IMG] For those who have the braces how long did it take before you could eat any thing after getting them on.

I assume you're talking about the "train-track" variety rather than any other kind. If that term's not known around your area, it means the ones with brackets permanently attatched to each tooth, joined by a bit of wire along the top and bottom set - called train-tracks because the two parallel wires are like rails, and the brackets are a bit like sleepers. I had a pair of these round about four years ago, and IIRC my mouth was sore for a couple of days, and it was about a week before I could eat anything other than soup.

Oh, I was wondering about that. I couldn't eat with the ones I had to wear, not unless I'd want to attempt a choking suicide anyway. :p

I got hit in the mouth once while I had my braces. My lips were attached to the braces, and I bled a lot. That wasn't fun either.

I once hit *myself* in the face with a basketball - very poor dribbling. It was about the same result. Actually, gollum, where I came from just about everyone of that age had them. One thing I did get was mates who'd had them before playing up how sore it was getting them on (and off).

ACK!!! BRACES!! What an awful Adolescent memory. The problem wasn't eating after I got them on. It was after they were adjusted every single solitary month for 2 YEARS and not being able to eat for 3 days. Even eating pudding would hurt. UGH!!!

Reading all your stories makes me like mine so much more. I ate the next day and everything. I'm getting them off next week so i'll let you know if it hurts. But getting them on and the monthly cheack ups are no problem to me. But I really think that it's your own personal expernce that you'll learn what their all about.

I guess I'm lucky, that I dont need to wear braces. (I am not saying this to mock anyone)
A friend of mine who has them said that it hurt a bit after they were attached and after they were removed. But nothing near what you guys (and gals) said, she couldnt eat anything thicker than yoghurt for a few days though.

Oh, and BTW Gnolyn. Do you still wear glasses? If so, why do you sound like you dont like them? I mean, I wear glasses and I like the way they make me look. A little older and a little more intelligent.

[IMG] I remember braces.....and not fondly. After i first had them put on, my mouth was sore for weeks - especially after band! Of course, five years went by quickly enough....did I mention I had to start wearing glasses at about the same time?

I had braces once and everyone would stare at me when I walked through town until Mama got mad at them and said, "Ain't you never seen a little boy with braces before" then they would feel ashamed and look away for the most part and then one day when I was playing with my friend Jenny (we was like peas and carrots) some mean boys started to throw things at me and chase me and Jenny said to run so I started to but I run so hard that the braces fell off. You wouldn't know it look at me but I can run like the wind blows.
