The presidential campaign had the ridiculous effect that both candidates, for the sake of consistency, claimed that even with perfect hindsight they would have decided the same on the Iraq war as they did before, just no to look the flip-flopper. Bush could impossibly admit mistakes before the elections because admitting errors or changing an opinion based on learning and experience is inconsistent and flip-flopping. What an unspeakable idiocy.

Perversely, the election campaign delayed the already long overdue changes in US foreign policy for precious 9 months.

    Said the dinosaur on mistakes:
Screw the ice-age, I stay - it was a great idea to come to Greenland :thumb:

Changing the tone is an improvement still - the problem, however, is elsewhere. Now only a few fundamental policy and personnel changes are neccessary

I imagine Georgie Porgies diary entry for today:
As if I loathe GWB because of all the gibberish he utters - it's the policy stupid! Bleh.

@Barmy Army: the only ones that should hang their in heads in shame are the ones who voted for him. The rest of us are just embarrassed.

Unfortunately, he's not an idiot. It's a pose that has served him well, especially with those ignorant voters who distrust any signs of education. (Guess we've been put in our place!) The fact that the results are obviously appalling, even disastrous, gives them no pause at all, since their agenda is founded in idealogy rather than reality. The environment, the young, the aged; all are to be sacrificed to the greed of a few, with a callous overlay of false advertising to make it appear plausible to the believing majority. It's astounding; and I don't blame you for not quite believing it's all happening.

    *sighs*
If I need to take the time to explain this to y'all, I will if if I have to.

My friend Chandos is correct...GWB is not an idiot. He may indeed be brilliant, but history will have to be the judge of that.

Try to stay focused on the fact that for the first time in recent history the lone global super-power is run by someone who can at least view themselves with a large grain of salt. This has never been the case in the past.

Like him or loathe him...there has never been a world leader who placed his cahoneys out for full review like GWB. Even if I didn't agree with his policies, I would still admire him for that.

Y'all need some hot chocolate, or something?

What I'm wondering is what country will he invade next. I mean after Afghanistan and Irak I can't help but think he'll find another target. Let's all hope that I'm wrong on that one(let's hope big time because I'm rarely wrong when I got a certain feeling about things).

But he still sounds like a complete idiot.

Bush is not an idiot, he gives the appearance of an idiot, never underestimate the most powerful person on this planet, he must be pretty smart to get to that position.

And besides, "in the land of the blind, one-eye is king", and [snip]

The Bush family had more than enough money to buy junior smart people to think instead of him when needed. And now that he's in charge, he has more people to think for him and plot policies than ever before. The few times when Bush had to think for himself without assistance from behind are the stuff of legend (joke-wise). But no, Bush doesn't really need another war in his last term, so I don't think we'll see one.

Good. While you are at it, explain this:

 He's hiding? Now, that's a brilliant observation. I would have never thought of that. This is not directed at any of the present company, (SP memebers) but, it begs this question: who are the real idiots here? The man himself, or the ones who voted for this guy?

What? Are we STILL talking about yankees? That's so old and England so hot -forget them and move on. Besides, everyone has mocked the fella more than enough but still he can bomb wedding-parties, torture prisoners, and grow horns in all silence. :shake:

I'm curious Chandos...what would the correct answer have been in your opinion? Maybe he should have slung a load of BS? What's wrong with that for an answer...it was truthful, direct and didn't shift blame for bin Laden's freedom.

I bet you woulda called Forrest Gump stupid ;)
