[IMG] Alright, I've just made quite a bit of money, and I decided I want to buy some cds. I can buy about five or so, and one of them is going to be KoRn Issues, but the rest, I'm not so sure about... What do you think. My taste in music, is metal and punk. Though one "softie" would be good as well...

Well, if I were you, I wouldn't buy any CDs when you can download all the songs you want.

But if you must have CDs, here's a list you might enjoy:
    • Korn - Untouchables
    • Disturbed - Belive
    • Red Hot Chili Peppers - By The Way
    • Chevelle - Wonder What's Next
    • Rammstein - Mutter
    • The Used - (I forgot the name of the CD)
I like a lot of the new stuff.... :rolling:

    Since you like metal:

    Rhapsody - Dawn of Victory
Blind Guardian - Nightfall in Middle Earth
Lana Lane - Secrets of Astrology (this has some mellow songs too)
Star One (Ayreon) - Space Metal
    Nightwish - Oceanborn

There's more (lots more), I had a lot of trouble narrowing it down to 5, so I picked 5 I've been listening to recently.

If you're looking for something different: I just got the new Black Heart Procession, Amore del tropico, and it rules!

Since you like metal, perhaps you could buy some hard rock of seventies as well. What I consider as masterpieces of this period are:
Blue Oyster Cult - Blue Oyster Cult
    Wishbone Ash - Argus
    Led Zeppelin - IV
Uria Heep - The magician's birthday
Alice Cooper - Welcome to my nightmare
    Thin Lizzy - Black Rose

    [IMG] Metal rocks.

    • Nutrimat has some good ideas in there...
Blind Guardian's "Nightfall in Middle Earth" is always a good idea.
    • So is Rhapdsody-I like "Power of the Dragonflame" better than "Dawn of Victory"...both have some mellower songs though.
    • Good harder stuff would be System of a Down-you want "Toxicity", or Rammstein (Mutter IS good). Gee, we're all repeating each other here. :)
    • To pitch in a few new ideas, try Dream Theater ("Scenes From a Memory" or "Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence"...the first is more definitive).
    • Opeth is also excellent..."Blackwater Park".
    • In Flames..."Clayman. I'm running out of interesting descriptions.
    • Lacuna Coil..."Unleashed Memories" or "In a Reverie". Both are softer, great female vocals...Theatre of Tragedy is the same idea (buy "Velvet Darkness they Fear" - under NO circumstances buy any of their newer works) and so is Within Temptation ("Mother Earth").
    • Soft stuff that's NOT metal? Loreena McKennit is really soft, beautiful Celtic stuff. Her best album is probably "Book of Secrets".
Sick of me yet? I think I better shut up, I like over 50 metal bands and the list is still growing, as well of random stuff that isn't metal :p A final piece of advice, that's actually USEFUL? Go to www.amazon.com and look at the reviews for CD's, it gives you a good idea of what they're like.
[EDIT] Hi BOC! I didn't see you :D

    OK, here's my screwed-up choices...

Dillinger Escape Plan - 'Calculating Infinity' (An absolute classic, the definition of 'psychotic'. Kind of like Napalm Death walking into a Jazz Club, smashing everything up and then having a heart attack)

Taproot - 'Gift' (If you're into Korn etc., this is a must-have)

Rammstein - 'Mutter' (Seems to be a favourite in this thread)

At The Drive-In - 'Relationship Of Command' (A modern punk classic, in my opinion)

Cave In - 'Jupiter' (An absolutely astounding album. Quite proggy in places. Can be quite 'soft' as well, if you're after a 'soft' one)

If you don't buy any of them, at least check them out. They're well worth it.

EDIT: I just read Tiamat's post... 'Blackwater Park' by Opeth is amazing. Check that out as well.

I agree. Opeth and Taproot are both amazing. Killswitch Engage are also worth a try.

If you want black metal(if you like it, or just want to try it), maybe try Dimmu Borgir, Carcass, Morbid Angel.

IMO Rammstein are only worth buying to listen to once or twice. I got Mutter and laughed my ass off all the way through.

Korn, if you don't already have them, go for Korn or Life is Peachy instead of issues.

Lastly, if you like any kind of hiphop metal, then you gotta try (HED)PE (unless you've already got it). Fantastic band.

Whow there, so worried about all of those i nearly forgot the greatest band of them all - Dream Theater. Progressive rock/metal at its best. A definite must for any collection, especially if you play guitar, bass, keyboards or drums. The technicallity is amazing. What other band can play 2bars of 5/4 followed by 19/17??

[IMG] The Deep Purple suggestion was a good one.
    Kiss cd's are good.
For a mellow cd, this may sound odd, but some of the women like Barry Manilow.
Of course the combined hits of the ultra cool JCDenton is the tops.

Yeah, well, I decided for Issues, Because I really want Falling Away From Me, and Trash. I like those tracks. But Life Is Peachy could work as well (meaning, I'll probably buy both)

Rammstein is cool, but I got Mutter on my pc, so I don't really need that one (borrowed it from the library, copied to Harddisk, 100% legal :D )

Limp Bizkit are quite cool, and I might consider buying Significant Other, cuz I have Three Doller Bill Y'all and Chocolate Starfish.

REM sounds okay as well, they're the ones who made Losing my Religion, right?

Chili Peppers are cool as well... but the older ones were just a tad better than the new one (Californication, Blood, Sugar, Sex, Magik)

    If you really like headbanging(Daronstyle)

Try System of a Down, both albums are the best I´ve ever listened to

(And YES, Rammstein - Mutter is very cool too)

A comment on silent_elf's recommendations: If you want Slayer, get Reign in Blood. And if you want Cradle of Filth (which I personally highly recommend) don't get a live album...get "Cruelty and the Beast" or "Lovecraft & Witch Hearts", those are best (the first is their BEST cd and the second is a compilation).

(hed)PE rule. A lot. As do System Of A Down, although I would definitely recommend their first album above 'Toxicity'. If you want a totally FEROCIOUS album, get 'Reign In Blood'. And if you're interested in expanding your interests into more 'extreme' stuff (like Black Metal), check out Emperor. Wow, this thread's made me really enthusiastic all of a sudden...

EDIT: Oh yeah, and check out Skindred. They're kind of Reggae Metal, and they slay.
