I bought Caballus's Whispering Staff+3 from Conlan in Adventurer's Mart. This is due to IWD items mod I have. Conlan and all items he sells are from either IWD or IWD2 games. Somewhat powerful, but fun!

Anyway. I remember it was a one-handed mace like weapon in IWD2, since it was actualy a goblinoid staff, which a bigger creature like the PC can wieldin one hand.

It is nice+3, with bonus to move silently, and can cast Invisibility Sphere 1/day. Overall a nice enough weapon.

I had my Chorister wield it. (he already had proficiency in Quarterstaff AND two-handed weapon style) To my suprise it was wielded as a two-hander quarter-staff. I thought it was a bug as I clearly reminded it was one-handed originally in IWD2. Anyway, I did not care, as indeed my Chorister could not wield a shield or another weapon, and two-handed style would give me sweet bonuses hopefully.

I NEVER used the weapon in combat, my Chorister show arrows, and launched spells, used wands mainly when doing Nalia's (improved) keep.

Then I had to face Iron Golem, which required +3 weapons. Trusting my Staff+3, I charged in.

As soon as my Chorister held the weapon to strike, the game screen went blank, I heard a Windows Error and a small screen kindly explained an assertion error in a file. Duh. No big suprise thanks to my heavily modded game, BUT I wonder if it is due to original mod? Or another mod I installed recently caused such a conflict?

I can't remember, is Caballus's staff originaly one-handed weapon in the mod? If it is so, another mod I got recently caused a conflict to bug it. If not, is the mod itself to blame?

Oh well I can live without that stupid staff anyway, already sold it as now I have Improved Torgal's uber-claw, but I am still curious as for the cause. Can you shed some light into this mastery?

I don't know what the problem is, but I doubt it is the Chorister itself. Sounds like it might be a corrupted animation for the weapon striking.
