    Hello, All,

    Here's a random challenge for you: I'm trying to hunt down a book I read a LONG time ago (20 years?) and that I can't remember much about.

    The protagonist is a young person (kid or teen, definitely not adult) who is inhabited by a symbiotic alien slime of some kind. The alien is on Earth looking for a criminal from its world. The part that stands out the most in my mind is that the alien communicates to the protagonist by "floating" words in his vision by mucking about with his retina.

    Totally silly book. I can't even remember if it was a book or a short story. Anyone have a clue? I'm just curious to see it again after all this time.

    WOW! I'm about 99% certain that's the one. I have definitely read Hal Clement books before, and that jibes with what I remember (they were definitely amoeba-like).
