While playing the game with a Kensai I dualed to mage. My character turned into fighter/mage. This caused me to lose the Kensai-abilities. Is there a patch for the game needed to use this multi-class combination?

The Kensai abilities come back once your mage level has increased to one beyond the Kensai level at which you dualled I think. I have played a Kensai dualled to Mage and yes, while they build their initial Mage levels they are vulnerable until they regain their Kensai abilities - one good way to gain EXP fast for the dualled character is to drop all the other party members and learn as many scroll spells as possible for that character alone, even if you cannot yet cast spells of the level - your Mage levels will shoot up very quickly.

[IMG] Ah yes! How often haven't you had a rousing AD&D P&P session with your roleplaying buddies in which you got a level 1 mage and the DM stuck you in a corner reading scrolls for an hour. Tiresome it may have been, but after that hour you came out with a 9th level Mage. Pretty darn good for just reading I say!

    Non-rant translation:
You can quite easily reach Mage-9 just by inscribing scrolls if your PC is solo. You can theoretically reach Mage-12  (there are 800+ mage spell levels) just doing that - and that's without abusing "unlearn spell"!

Beware that kicking out a "romantic interest" NPC might terminate the romance. Do a search on that if you're concerned about it.
