You should be ashamed of yourself. This is football season. This is no time to be thinking about such a sissy sport as baseball. Especially if you are coming from Philly. You should be jumping on the Eagles bandwagon with full force.

I admit that football is my favorite sport, but I have to hand it to baseball - it's really a year-long sport. Sure, the actual season starts the last weekend of March, and ends in November, but with all the free agency signings, players changing teams, trades, etc., a true fan can maintain interest in the game all year long. By the time all of those offseason deals are done, it's nearly time to start spring training.

I can't wait either. I'm a huge Mets fan, and although they haven't been very good the past few years, I still make it to about 15-20 games a season (might be different this year, I'm getting married this summer).

When do Philly individual tickets go on sale? I always take a road trip to see the Mets play in Philadelphia (hey, the Vet was the only park I've ever been to that's uglier than Shea!), and I'd love to see the new park. Hopefully my team will get one soon as well.

Augh! How can you talk about baseball now? It's hockey season! Compare hockey to any other sport, and then just try and say hockey isn't better! At least that's how us Canadians feel. And don't get me started on how much of a sissy sport football is, it's just too easy to laugh at!

But yes, that is quite the nice field there, it'll be a pleasure to watch the Jays whoop you there! :p

[IMG] Reepnorp...NEVER bring up the Blowjays again. I am still smarting from Joe Carter's homerun that killed us in 1993. I will drive up to Canada, find you, cover you in maple syrup and feed you to the polar bears. ;)

As for hockey...It's true. I love it more than football, but slightly less than baseball. Baseball is, after all, America's game. Even though the Dominicans are better at it than we are.

    Go Flyers!

I always found it strange that basketball season starts in the winter... I mean every time I play basketball, it's in the summer.

But back to baseball... give the Jays a break, Bel. They've had their two years of glory and now they've stunk for 10 years. And counting... This year, like the past several, will be between the Yankees and Red Sox again in the A.L. East.

Boston has an edge this year though, especially if Clemens is retiring.

Got a prediction for you guys...Shilling has about 140 innings in him this year. The Diamnondbacks used salary reduction as the excuse to move Shilling, but then turned around and picked up Sexson after the trade. I love Curt, and love what he did for the team and community while he was here in Arizona, but I think that he is almost out of gas. (last 40 innings pitched, 20 earned runs) He will never reach the heights he obtained 2001, and the "Green Monster" is a close target to a fly ball pitcher.

On a further sad note, looks like the D'backs are continuing the slide toward mediocrity. I'll go out on another limb...neither the Red Sox or the Yankees will win the AL East. I must commend Bel for his seats...nice pick...this may be the year when the rest of the league learns to "Phear the Phils".

EDIT: Just saw where the Yanks have come to terms with Sheffield and are close to re-signing Pettitte...may have to revise my AL East prediction. Better wait until at least Spring Training..

[IMG] I am totally excited for this season...I'm a little sad Curt won't coming back to play for us, but that's the way it goes...

I'm hoping the Phils will re-sign Kevin Millwood or pick up Bartolo Colon as a free agent. If they get a decent pitcher that can win them 15-16 games...Oh Baby, Lookout!

The Phillies' hitters slumped most of the year. If Pat Burrell can find his swing again, the Phils could do some real damage!

    Go Phils!

    Hacken Slash:

Schilling is undoubtedly getting a bit older, but his innings were cut short due to an injury this season (he broke his hand fielding a grounder).

I'm willing to bet that part of his poor finish was rust, and possibly coming back from the injury too soon.

[IMG] Should I hurt all of your guys' feleling and tell you that baseball was made by the Birtish, but called rounders. When it was played in America, the name was changed and a few rules were altered.

Basketball was invented by a Canadian. Also hockey, but everyone knows that.

And football, well, everyone knows the story behind that weak man's rugby.

    Go Canucks Go
