I have been playing a conjurer in BG1 and I really like it however I actually like the sorcerer class in BG2 even more. Therefore I was wondering if people thought if it is cheating if I use the stats from my BG1 conjurer to create a sorcerer in BG2. I would do this by considering that due to the fact that a sorcerer seems to have the blood of a diety and that I am a child of Bhaal that this blood changes my conjurer into a sorcerer and according to the biography in BG1 I am a human from Silverymoon where sorcerers can come from in AD@D. Since other classes can change into kits why can't I change into a sorcerer with my diety blood.
I would like some good comments please. Thanks

The sorcerer is considered to be a class of his own - no kind of sopecialist mage or mage kit. Therefore you can´t turn your conjurer into a sorcerer. The sorcerer´s magic system works like an innate ability, far different from that of a mage.
So in BG-2 you have to roll your sorcerer completely new, right from the start.

Thank you Ragusa for your reply which is appreciated. What I was trying to say is that I am using my imagination to try to picture why the sorcerer and prehaps even the other new classes are suddenly put into the game when they where never in BG1. If you are going to take one of the new classes then why don't you just start with 0 xp (using SK) since you are not really continuning the game propably therefore I am just imanging a senerio where a sorcerer comes into the frame
as a proper continuning character class - after all roleplaying is about using your imagination.

You can certainly create a character with the same name, same graphics, same stats (assuming you are within regular racial stats, otherwise you will have to cheat, or take a stat lowering. You will also have to roll until you get a total number of points equal to those of your old character to get the exact same stats.) and a similar spell list. Certainly the changes that gave you the new powers might have brought out latent sorcery abilities which have overwhelmed your previous mage knowledge.

    Go for it.
