Hi all.... I recently lost all my BG2 games and will be starting out ToB fresh, with no imports. I intend to boost up the XP on these characters, but I'm not sure to what level. What would the most realistic level be for characters just completing BG2?

Well, the XP cap in SoA is 2.95 million XP. That's not a bad place to start. If you are someone who typically did as many side quests as you could, you would probably reach (or at least come very close to reaching) the XP cap in SoA. Although, IIRC, I think if you start a character up in ToB, they give you something like 2 million XP anyway.

Hmmm... that seems really odd. But I'll go ahead and start the game! Thanks!

When I play with a full party in SoA, I do most of the side quests and I hit the cap sometime in chapter 6. Without the cap, as a guess, I'd say you finish with around 3.25 to 3.5 million XP.

Highest I've ever gotten with the cap removed in a party of 6 is 3.5 million.

ToB will start all characters out at 2.5 mill.

I think I got like 5 million XP from just SoA. I did have tactics mod though, so that ads some quests and I did Watcher's Keep in Chapter 6.

I hate the idea of starting a new party in ToB, because you'll have no cool items, but go ahead and try it if you want.

Depends on your definition of cool. If you start a new game in ToB one of the things your character gets is a bag of holding which has a lot of stuff in it: +2 and +3 weapons for just about any class, various and sundry spell scrolls, some potions, etc. I don't recall if there are any wands. Also the bags of holding in ToB appear to be bottomless, meaning I have yet to ever gotten a "container is full" message and I'm a certifiable packrat.
